Warzone: Area 99 Resurgence map overview & POIs

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I’ve seen my fair share of battlefields, from the lush green hills of Verdun to the icy wastes of Siberia. But when it comes to fast-paced, densely packed action, nothing quite compares to the retro-futuristic chaos that is Area 99.

The popular game Warzone is introducing a fresh map for its Resurgence mode along with the debut of Black Ops 6. Known as Area 99, this new battleground takes inspiration from the legendary Nuketown map, boasting a retro-futuristic aesthetic. It’s designed to be an action-packed, compact area ideal for intense combat.

Here is our overview of the map and its points of interest.

Area 99 explained

Area 99 is a condensed and tight-knit revival layout that shares roughly the same dimensions as Rebirth Island. It showcases several locales reminiscent of Nuketown, but with a futuristic-retro vibe, complete with faded colors and dilapidated structures.

The map is a giant central POI surrounded by roadways and other POIs of varying sizes.

Area 99 POIs

Mannequin Assembly

Located on the north part of the map stands the expansive Mannequin Assembly plant, filled with mannequin pieces and aged machinery.

The inside is a dilapidated maze made up of a large assembly chamber, conveyor belts, an operational hyradaulic press, and multiple floors.

Test Site and Bunker

The Test Area is a collection of wooden shacks, dilapidated buses, storage containers, and a deep trench situated on the northwestern part of the map.

Nearby, there’s a bunker equipped with a watchtower and a war room hidden beneath the sand. Descending into this bunker leads you through multiple passageways, complete with computer labs and an arsenal.

Reactor and Cooling Towers

In the heart of the map lies the Reactor, surrounded by its towering structures. This Reactor is constructed with a central dome building at its core, encircled by curved buildings to form a ring. There are both ascenders and a gantry providing access in and out of this tower, which gives it a distinctly vertical character within Area 99.

The Cooling Towers are part of a smaller, rectangular building just north with pipes covering the sides and top of the building, with some even making for great walkways to the Reactor. There are plenty of rooms inside for some CQC and opportunities to lose enemies in a chase.

Factory Warehouse and Manufacturing

In the southern part of the map lies the construction area where every essential feature is assembled to build Nuketown in its entirety. It combines expansive areas and cramped corridors filled with cover, as well as skylights overhead that offer an advantage for attacking from above.

In terms of manufacturing, there’s a greater emphasis on height thanks to internal walkways that can be used for parkour or stealth movements, based on the circumstances.

Loading Bay

As a dedicated gamer, I find myself captivated by the Loading Bay – an expansive outdoor space adjacent to the bustling roadside. Here, towering warehouse structures stand as silent sentinels, while a colossal crane gracefully hoists a miniature replica of the iconic yellow Nuketown house. For any sniping enthusiast like me, this setup offers an irresistible opportunity – if one can navigate the challenge and reach the lofty vantage point unscathed.

Nuketown Shipping

At the eastbound outskirts, you’ll find a row of dilapidated, partly submerged structures nestled on a sandy mound, with a massive wall looming overhead. This spot seems ideal for individuals seeking to avoid the bustling combat zones and conceal themselves.

Pods

A cluster of octagonal buildings painted in various colors ascend progressively, offering panoramic views from their rooftops throughout the surrounding territory. This compact neighborhood provides clear vantage points across its entire expanse.
