A Steve Harvey Biopic Titled Seventy-Two Is Currently In Development

As an admirer of the entertainment industry, I find myself thoroughly captivated by the upcoming biopic about the legendary Steve Harvey, titled “Seventy-Two.” The story of this man’s journey from humble beginnings as a salesman to becoming one of the most influential figures in comedy and television is not only inspiring but also serves as a testament to human resilience.

Known for his hilarious comedy, acting, and television hosting skills, Steve Harvey, is about to have a biopic made based on his life. The film, named Seventy-Two, is currently in its initial stages at Objectively Good Media (OGM). This drama will delve into the life and career of this well-known television personality.

At present, not much is known about the project, but it’s being developed by Mohamed Kheir and Matthew R. Cooper under OGM, together with Harvey and Thabiti Stephens from East 112. As Deadline reports, “Seventy-Two” will delve into the significant 72-hour phase preceding Harvey’s groundbreaking performance at the Apollo Theatre in 1993. This time period was pivotal as it highlighted Harvey’s grit and persistence in staying within the industry, showcasing his resilience.

At first, Harvey hesitated about the suggestion of a biographical film being made about him. However, once Our Great Movie (OGM) developed the narrative and presented a persuasive argument, he became eager to share the journey required to realize one’s aspirations with the world.

“I’ve held off on creating a movie about my life for quite some time, but when I encountered the concept of Seventy-Two, I was intrigued. This project zeroes in on one of the toughest phases in my journey and career, demonstrating that there’s always a glimmer of hope, even in the darkest times. Trust me, you won’t want to miss what we have planned with this.”

Steve Harvey’s Many Ventures In Film And TV

Steve Harvey kicked off his professional journey in the 1980s as a comedian, entertaining audiences at various clubs. But before he became well-known, he earned a living as a salesman. His career took flight when he was chosen to host ‘Showtime at the Apollo’ from 1993 to 2000, and subsequently landed roles in the ABC series ‘Me and the Boys’ and The WB network show ‘The Steve Harvey Show’.

Harvey’s path to success wasn’t free of obstacles, yet with determination, he ultimately discovered an ideal platform to display his skills. Beyond “The Steve Harvey Show,” which spanned over six seasons, Harvey is particularly renowned for his part in the “Kings of Comedy Tour,” later immortalized by Spike Lee’s 2000 documentary, “The Original Kings of Comedy“. His daytime talk show also garnered multiple Daytime Emmys, while his continued hosting of “Family Feud” following 26 seasons has significantly boosted its ratings.

The movie, “Seventy-Two,” as per OGM’s promise, is set to portray Harvey’s remarkable journey to stardom following his tireless efforts in the stand-up comedy scene over many years. Mohamed Kheir, one of the producers, also mentioned:

“It has been a profound privilege to acquire the rights to share this story. The way Steve Harvey overcomes adversity is truly inspiring, and our upcoming film, Seventy-Two, will highlight the indomitable spirit and tenacity that marked those crucial periods. We can’t wait to unveil this moving account to audiences across the globe.”

As of now, the project entitled “Seventy-Two” hasn’t selected a writer yet, and neither a director nor actors have been revealed at this point in time. However, Objectively Good Media has a proven track record of bringing compelling narratives to life. They recently completed production on a dark comedy titled “Damned If You Do,” starring Kate Siegel and Harvey Guillén.
