Sridevi would get Janhvi, Khushi and Boney Kapoor’s names written on her mehendi; reveals Bollywood’s henna queen Veena Nagda

As a fortunate artist who had the privilege of adorning the hands of Bollywood’s Mehendi Queen, Sridevi, I can confidently say that it was an unforgettable experience. The enthusiasm and love she exhibited for this traditional art were truly inspiring. During Karwa Chauth, she would always get mehendi done, a tradition I shall never forget.

Sridevi, known for her diva-like charm, fashion influence, and stellar acting skills, occasionally made daring and stylish decisions in her films. Yet, she cherished her heritage deeply and participated heartily in every Indian festival, one of them being Karwa Chauth. This festival, symbolizing married couples’ love, always saw the English Vinglish actress adorning henna designs on her hands, even asking the artist to inscribe the names of her loved ones within those intricate patterns.

In a recent interview with TopMob’s Hindi Rush, Bollywood’s renowned henna artist Veena Nagda shared memories of applying henna to the iconic Sridevi. During our exclusive chat, Veena reminisced that Sridevi would always get henna done for Karwa Chauth. “I will never forget her,” she said emotionally, noting that Sridevi was particularly fond of having henna applied.

Veena ji reminisced about her time collaborating with the Mom actress, and spoke of the first occasion she adorned her hands – this was during Anil Kapoor and Sunita Kapoor’s home celebration gathering. She also mentioned that at that time, a little four-year-old named Janhvi Kapoor often sat beside her mother as the designs were being created on Veena ji’s hands.

The mehendi artist explained that she aimed to make the design flawless and planned to inscribe the names of Janhvi, Khushi, and Boney on her hands. She added that Boney Kapoor, Sridevi’s husband and a producer, was well aware of her passion for this art. Eventually, he requested the artist to stay patiently for several hours so that his wife could come back from filming and receive her henna application.

During the same conversation, Veena Nagda mentioned that she had met Ranveer Singh at two different weddings – Ram Charan’s and Anant Ambani’s. She also shared a warm embrace with him on both occasions. In jest, Ranveer said he too wished for a little girl like Mehendi, and they exchanged hugs again. Veena then congratulated him, predicting that he and Deepika Padukone would be welcoming a son.

Runveer and Deepika are set to welcome their first-born into the world. It’s said that they are due for delivery around September 28th.
