Ketanji Brown Jackson Recalls Being Scene Partners With Matt Damon in Harvard Drama Class

As a longtime admirer of the remarkable careers and personal journeys of both Ketanji Brown Jackson and Matt Damon, I find it fascinating to delve into their shared past at Harvard University. While they may have walked different paths since their drama class days, it’s clear that Justice Jackson has certainly soared higher than even the most lofty of dreams in Hollywood.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’d say: “Once upon a time, I found myself in an epic duel – it was none other than Ketanji Brown Jackson and Matt Damon squaring off. And let me tell you, she outshone him in that showdown.”

During an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning, the Supreme Court justice reminisced about sharing a drama class with the Academy Award-winning actor when they were studying at Harvard. She mentioned that they never acted in a production together but often worked as each other’s scene partners.

She shared with Norah O’Donnell that [it was] in connection with “Waiting for Godot,” she said, though he likely wouldn’t recall this. What made the experience memorable for her was being his on-stage partner for that specific course, as he was already quite recognized both on and off campus, making it an exciting opportunity.

She shared that when asked about the events in the scene, she disclosed they had to jointly memorize their lines for a two-person act. “At the conclusion,” she reminisced, “‘Ketanji,’ the professor praised, ‘you did wonderfully.’ To Matt, he said, ‘We’ll discuss later.'” She expressed, feeling elated, “I thought, ‘Oh my god, I outperformed Matt Damon in a scene!'”

Previously, Jackson had shared that she was a classmate of Damon’s. She provided additional information about this during her interview on CBS Morning Show. The Associated Press contacted the renowned actor and writer Damon to ask if he recalled her from their days in school. Although he couldn’t remember her, he expressed his excitement by saying, “That’s really neat!”

In 1992, the Supreme Court Associate Justice obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Government. Four years after that, she completed her Juris Doctor Degree from an Ivy League school in Massachusetts.

Instead of completing his studies at Harvard, Damon decided to leave school just 12 credits shy of graduation to take on the role in “Geronimo: An American Legend.” Later, he acted in several films that were nominated for Oscars and eventually won an Academy Award for co-writing the screenplay for “Good Will Hunting” alongside his friend and collaborator Ben Affleck.
