Amitabh Bachchan says he has never watched a film on mobile as he reacts to re-release of movies post Sholay’s special screening

As a follower who has had the privilege of witnessing the golden era of Indian cinema unfold right before my eyes, I can wholeheartedly attest to the timeless charm that Amitabh Bachchan and his contemporaries have left on our collective cinematic landscape. The recent resurgence of classic films in theaters is a heartening reminder of the enduring power of storytelling and the magic that can be found on the big screen.

Many beloved classic movies are returning to the big screen, bringing joy to audiences who still hold them dear. Amitabh Bachchan, a renowned actor, has shared his thoughts on this nostalgic resurgence, questioning whether these films are timeless classics or if they’ve simply grown old with time. Additionally, he mentioned that he has never watched a film on a mobile device.

Amitabh Bachchan recently wrote on his blog about the special moments from his weekly meeting with fans at his home, Jalsa. This tradition, which he’s kept up for 42 years, led him to ponder over the timeless charm of classic films. He shared pictures from the event and commented, “Coming here is like coming home, stepping into the old sandals, coming home in the old sandals, the rhythm of some old songs still echoes; even today they persist. And people now want to watch those old movies on the big screen. I never thought about watching films on mobile phones before, and I don’t think so now.”

Here and then, some timeless tunes echo, yet they persist in our present day. Interestingly, there’s a growing demand for classic films to grace the big screen once more. Honestly, the idea of watching movies on a mobile device never crossed my mind before, nor does it now… But who knows if what was once golden has merely aged or if that which is old has simply turned into gold?

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about Big B’s recent announcement on social media regarding the re-release of timeless films. This news was sparked by my recent experience at a nostalgic screening of the legendary movie Sholay, which has remained a cherished Hindi classic for nearly five decades. On August 31, I had the privilege of attending a special showing of this iconic 1975 blockbuster at Mumbai’s Regal Cinema. The event was made possible with the support of Salman Khan Films, Excel Media and Entertainment, and Tiger Baby.

The occasion was honored by well-known figures in the film world such as Salim Khan, Javed Akhtar, and Ramesh Sippy, along with other influential names. The classic film “Sholay,” penned by the legendary duo Salim-Javed and directed by Ramesh Sippy, is a staple of Indian cinema, celebrated for its enduring characters and memorable lines.

Lately, some favorite films from the past have been returning to theaters, such as Rockstar, Laila Majnu, Gangs of Wasseypur, Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, and more. The month of September follows suit with a list of cherished movies slated for a second run, including Veer Zaara, Pardes, and Taal. These re-runs provide viewers an opportunity to relive these cinematic masterpieces on the big screen once more.

Currently, in terms of professional endeavors, Amitabh Bachchan recently appeared in Kalki 2898 AD, sharing the screen with Prabhas and Deepika Padukone as the eternal character Ashwatthama. In the near future, he is preparing to make his debut in Tamil cinema with Vettaiyan.
