Fans Think Two Former Chicago P.D. Cast Members Are Dating In Real Life, And What Would We Even Do About A Nickname?

As a long-time fan of Chicago P.D., I must say, I was taken aback when rumors started swirling about Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos spending time together in Europe. I’ve followed their on-screen relationship as Upstead for years, and it seemed like a dream come true to see them off-screen as well!

As a dedicated fan, I assumed the Upstead era was over when Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos departed from Chicago P.D., but it seems the drama between them hasn’t ended on or off screen! Over the past few days, whispers have been circulating that they spent some time together in Europe. To add fuel to the rumors, they shared pictures of their adventure in Lisbon, leaving fans speculating whether these two are more than just co-stars now. If true, it would be quite a twist – life imitating art indeed! But here’s what we know so far…

The Sweet Pics That Prompted One Chicago Dating Rumors

For several years, both actors were integral members of the acclaimed “One Chicago” ensemble. However, towards the conclusion of Season 11 (the previous season according to the 2024 TV schedule), both decided to part ways with the long-running NBC show. Their departures weren’t due to any disagreements, as Soffer chose to step down midway through Season 10 in pursuit of fresh acting opportunities and will soon appear in “FBI: International.” Similarly, Spiridakos announced her departure just over a season later for similar reasons.

Initially, when pictures showing a reunion between the viral PD duo surfaced, Laura Hurley from TopMob started pondering if they could collaborate once more, potentially in a new project. Could Miss Spiridakos decide to join FBI: International, where Soffer will be stationed this fall?

Now, however, fans have their own feelings about Upstead’s real-life counterparts.

What The Fans Are Saying After The Viral Pics Of Spiridakos And Soffer Dropped

There was an outpouring of affection from fans as they excitedly commented on the heartwarming reunion photos posted by Tracy Spiridakos and Jesse Lee Soffer on their Instagrams, many expressing curiosity about the fate of their beloved TV couple.

  • Did Halstead and Upton get together in real life?😊. I hope so! Jesse and Tracey make a beautiful couple.
  • I hope they are a couple!
  • Are you guys together now???

Those who undoubtedly rooted for the pair on “Chicago PD” took their support a step further, voicing comments like these (punctuation adjusted):

  • Daaamn! When Hailey said “I go where you go” she really meant it.
  • So basically I’ve died.
  • Now i know why Hailey left Chicago.
  • Posting this on the two-year anniversary of it being announced Jesse was leaving PD is insane!!!!

In preparation for his departure from the One Chicago family, Spiridakos praised Soffer as exceptional, and indeed, they’ve shared more than just a professional bond. They’ve been known to socialize outside of work too, with the actress attending Soffer’s 40th birthday in April. Their camaraderie extends beyond work hours; they were even spotted protesting together during the WGA and actors strikes. Although whispers have circulated about them potentially dating privately, they’ve never confirmed this publicly.

Consequently, there’s no clear evidence suggesting this was anything beyond a casual meeting. It might be that they simply coincidentally found themselves close by each other, perhaps even traveling together as friends. However, given their shared trip to Europe, which appeared to have romantic undertones, and the lack of explanation for why they were both in the same European location at the same time, people began speculating.

If they end up becoming a couple, the dilemma for me becomes choosing an appropriate nickname for them. Upstead was simple yet catchy, but combining their surnames (Ferdakos and Spiridakos) to create a nickname seems challenging: could it be FerdSpiri or SoSpird? Neither of these sound overly cute.

One fan did already have a better take on this: “Trasse being real definitely wasn’t on my 2024 bingo card.”

So there you have it.
