Yo Yo Honey Singh calls AP Dhillon, Karan Aujla and Guru Randhawa 'superstars'; says 'wouldn't count' Diljit Dosanjh with them for THIS reason

As a die-hard fan of Yo Yo Honey Singh, I can’t help but be in awe of his unapologetic honesty and humility. With decades of experience under his belt, he has seen the evolution of the music industry and is not afraid to share his insights.

For many years, Yo Yo Honey Singh has dominated the Indian music landscape, particularly the rap genre. He was one of the pioneering artists who introduced hip-hop and rapping to India. Over time, numerous other singers and performers have gained popularity. In a recent conversation, Honey discussed his contemporaries and offered some thoughts on today’s independent music scene.

Speaking with Mid-Day recently, I, as a lifestyle expert, found myself reflecting on the current state of the music industry. It seems to be churning out streaming stars left and right, but true superstars remain few and far between. Looking back over the past decade, only exceptional talents such as AP Dhillon, Karan Aujla, and Guru Randhawa have managed to break through the noise and achieve superstar status. However, when it comes to the remarkable Diljit Dosanjh, I wouldn’t categorize him in that group – he stands alone in a league of his own.

Expressing his conviction with an explanation, Brown Range singer asserted that Diljit Dosanjh, Amar Singh Chamkila, and another artist were “already excelling significantly in their field; they were already legends.” Singh added that he had a long history with Diljit Dosanjh and collaborated with him as well. As per his opinion, while these three artists have achieved stardom, “unfortunately, about fifty others have only gained popularity through streaming platforms.” According to him, this is the most significant issue currently.

More recently, The Lallantop interviewed a 41-year-old artist, during which he expressed some controversial views about several of his hit songs. In this conversation, Singh labeled the catchy tune “Blue Hai Paani Paani” from the movie Yaariyan 2 as the most idiotic song he has ever composed. “It’s nonsense,” Singh stated in Hindi, “I mean, really look at all the songs; is there any depth?” He also shared that the entire creation and recording process of this track took only two hours.

In a recent discussion regarding his popular tracks “Lungu Dance” and “Party All Night”, Honey Singh admitted that he was surprised by the attention they’ve received. He joked that when asked to perform them now, he chuckles because people continue to enjoy these types of songs intensely.

More recently, the performer teamed up with Neha Kakkar and Guru Randhawa to produce the track “Hauli Hauli,” which is featured in the movie “Khel Khel Mein.”
