As a longtime Marvel fan and avid supporter of the MCU, I am beyond thrilled about the upcoming series featuring Paul Bettany as Vision, aptly named “Vision Quest.” Having watched the evolution of this character from his debut in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron to his poignant role in WandaVision, I can’t wait to see where the story takes us next.
Starting with “WandaVision”, which is Marvel Studio’s first series on Disney+ and a part of the growing Marvel Cinematic Universe, its timeline has become increasingly intricate. The spin-off to “WandaVision”, titled “Agatha All Along”, has generated much anticipation, but as producer Mary Livanos reveals, it won’t be the only series connected to “WandaVision”. She confirmed that a new series focusing on Paul Bettany’s character, Vision, is under development. This upcoming series will continue the storyline post-“WandaVision”
Agatha All Along centers around Kathryn Hahn reprising her role as Agatha Harkness, the enigmatic witch previously revealed as the antagonist in WandaVision. In this spin-off, Agatha encounters a reversal of fortune when a shrewd teenage witch frees her from a charm. Later, they team up to form a coven strong enough to confront the Witches’ Road, an ancient sequence of magical tests. In an interview with ComicBook about the forthcoming release of Agatha All Along, Livanos hinted at his participation in the upcoming Vision series, tentatively titled “Vision Quest”
“It seems that the project, Vision Quest, is currently being worked on. I’m eagerly looking forward to rejoining it. We’re still in the initial stages, but we’ll carry on from where the story left off in WandaVision.”
The finale of WandaVision depicted White Vision, an artificial replica of the original Vision (portrayed by Paul Bettany), inheriting its predecessor’s memories and departing to uncharted territories, probably in search of clarity about his newfound knowledge. It can be expected that White Vision’s Journey will trace the synthetic being’s quest for self-discovery and the opposing forces that clash with his intended path
James Spader Is Back as Ultron for Vision Series
There aren’t many specifics revealed about the series “Vision Quest,” but it has been disclosed that James Spader will reappear as the antagonist, once again portraying Ultron from the 2015 film “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” While Vision seemingly killed Ultron, the scene ending before the fatal blow leaves uncertainty about his death. This ambiguity has sparked excitement among fans for a possible future on-screen appearance by Ultron. The possibility of Ultron’s return after over a decade away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe suggests that other supposedly deceased characters, particularly those closely connected to Vision, might also make a comeback
The future of beloved character Wanda Maximoff has been uncertain ever since she made her appearance in the 2022 movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, during which she sacrificed herself to safeguard the multiverse. Since then, traces of her have persisted within the MCU. Intriguingly, a sneak peek at the official trailer for Agatha All Along, shows Agatha examining a tag on a corpse in a morgue, and the name “Wanda Maximoff” mysteriously appears written in red ink
Despite a potential return of the Scarlet Witch, nothing concrete has been revealed. Fans were left angry and disappointed after the Marvel Studios panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con failed to reveal an announcement for a long-rumored and much hoped-for standalone Scarlet Witch film. But in the current Marvel era filled with far-reaching cameos, no one is ever truly dead and gone. Audiences can tune in on September 18th for the premiere of Agatha All Along to see if this continues to be the case.
