The new Netflix series titled “KAOS” is rapidly soaring up Netflix’s top charts, currently occupying the second spot globally. Starring Jeff Goldblum as the charismatic, electrifying, and omnipotent Zeus, the show offers a fresh, contemporary interpretation of Greek mythology. In the span of August 26 to September 1, the series amassed an impressive viewership of 22.8 million hours watched and garnered 3.4 million views
Initially, KAOS didn’t make it into the Top 10 list of most-watched shows in the U.S. upon its debut. However, it has managed to secure the fifth position on Netflix’s Top 10 by Country chart in the UK. Interestingly, this Goldblum-led series ranks third in Greece’s Top 10, with Emily in Paris Season 4 holding the number one spot. Homework Isn’t Required to Enjoy KAOS
Since it was first announced back in 2022 that Hugh Grant would play Zeus in the Netflix series “KAOS”, the show has made significant progress. Set in modern times, it reimagines Greek mythology, with Jeff Goldblum’s character as the ruler and protector of Gods and humans, making it a fascinating watch without needing any prior historical knowledge. As stated by Showrunner Charlie Covell in the same report:
“I don’t want anyone to think they need prior knowledge to enjoy the show, as that’s not fair and quite exclusive. However, it would be delightful if those who are familiar with [the Greek myths] could spot hidden references and exclaim ‘Easter egg, Easter egg!'”
Covell also said:
“The ideas behind KAOS have always been a mix of various elements, yet they consistently revolved around eternal themes such as love, power, and death, along with troubled family dynamics. Moreover, these narratives often held a humorous aspect within my imagination.”
Actress Janet McTeer, playing Hera in the show “KAOS“, cautions viewers that the might of Zeus escalates in increasingly terrifying manners throughout the eight-episode run. “[I hope] as you continue to watch the series, you grow more frightened [with a smile],” she says, “for you’ll come to understand his power and what he is capable of. And it’s simply awe-inspiring.”
