'Listen, You People:' Hannah Waddingham Gets Hilariously Real About Those Ted Lasso Season 4 Reports

As a devoted Ted Lasso fan with countless hours invested in the series, I must say that the latest updates on Season 4 have left me feeling like Keeley Jones after a breakup – eagerly waiting for any sign of hope. Hannah Waddingham‘s recent comments to ET about the potential fourth season only fueled my anticipation and left me wondering if Rebecca Welton has her own source for inside scoop that I don’t!

Hannah Waddingham, known for her role in Rebecca, never shies away from honesty. She’s been vocal and enthusiastic about the influence Ted Lasso has had on her life, and her responses to questions about the show are usually sincere and amusing. Recently, she hasn’t hesitated to share her thoughts about the rumors surrounding a potential fourth season of Ted Lasso.

Recently, it emerged that Jason Sudeikis’ Apple TV+ comedy series seems to be moving forward towards a fourth season. Word has it that Warner Bros. Television has picked up options for cast members Dame Kristin Scott Thomas, Brett Goldstein, and Jeremy Swift. They are said to be planning on bringing back more of the original cast next. However, it was subsequently reported that Phil Dunster might not return as Jamie Tartt due to scheduling conflicts. This leaves fans questioning which actors will appear in the upcoming season, if one is indeed being made at all.

Indeed, the actress portraying AFC Richmond’s owner was questioned by Entertainment Tonight, and here’s her response as I’ve rephrased it for easier understanding:

Listen everyone, I’m not knowledgeable about this matter. Alright! I genuinely don’t have the answer, it’s Sudocrem you should ask. Regardless, I would always participate, even if she uses a walker, so I’m not the one to consult. I’m on board, I’m ready. That cast and their writing team are among the greatest loves of my life, they’re simply magnificent. It’d be foolish not to join in, you understand? So, yes, I’m definitely on board. Now, are we all going to take part? Honestly, I don’t know.

It’s highly likely that “Sudocrem” refers to Jason Sudeikis, and according to several members of the Ted Lasso cast and crew, the show’s fourth season depends on him. Prior to the announcement about Season 4, the showrunner Bill Lawrence stated that its return was ultimately in the hands of Sudeikis, who had previously told Collider that “…whatever Jason decides to do, we’re all on board with it.” It seems that Hannah Waddingham shares this perspective as well.

She doesn’t appear to have any information regarding a fourth season or spinoff for “Ted Lasso”. However, should it occur, she’s likely to be involved. Previously, when asked about reprising her role as Rebecca, Waddingham has expressed her willingness to do so. Consequently, her return isn’t a matter of if, but rather the status of Season 4 remains unanswered.

When pressed further about the topic and if there were scripts, the Emmy winner said:

Of course, there’s no script.

Alongside the actress from “The Fall Guy,” the man portraying Dani Rojas, Cristo Fernández, has spoken out about Season 4 rumors. He admits he’s unsure if it will truly materialize, but should it, he’d be thrilled to reprise his role as the carefree footballer. After all, just like Dani puts it, “Football is everything!

There’s still much uncertainty about the future of this comedy series, as the storylines for AFC Richmond could potentially continue beyond Season 3 of Ted Lasso. However, aside from that initial report suggesting steps towards a fourth season, no further confirmation has been made public. Thus, just like Hannah Waddingham, we too are left in the dark about what lies ahead.

Should Season 4 happen, she’s certainly hinted with a chuckle that she’d participate. I suspect, provided there are no scheduling clashes, the rest of the Ted Lasso cast would eagerly return to their characters as well.

In the meantime, while we explore what’s coming up for this cherished soccer sitcom, we’ll make sure to share updates with you. For the present, revisit Hannah Waddingham and the team in the initial three seasons of Ted Lasso with an Apple TV+ membership.
