Anthony Azizi Joins Iran-Set Romance Thriller ‘Cast Aside the Clouds’ (Exclusive)

As a gamer with a deep appreciation for both gaming narratives and real-life stories, I find myself genuinely intrigued by Anthony Azizi‘s upcoming role in “Cast Aside the Clouds.” The film’s plot resonates profoundly with me, given my own background and experiences.

24-year-old actor Anthony Azizi will take on a leading role in “Cast Away the Mist,” an upcoming romantic-thriller set in Iran that is scheduled for filming in Athens, Greece.

The independent film directed by Mary Darling and produced by WestWind Pictures features Azizi in the role of Farhad Khosrovi, a bookstore owner in Tehran whose daughter Utab (Parmiss Sehat) studies at a clandestine university linked to the Iranian Bahá’í faith.

Following an assault on the bookstore, Utab encounters Dr. Sasan Naderi, a young Muslim neurologist portrayed by Behtash Fazlali, while recuperating in the hospital. A romantic connection develops between them, but their relationship faces obstacles due to family disapproval because Sasan is Muslim and Utab follows the Bahá’í faith. Their bond is further strained when Utab discovers that Sasan intends to move to Germany, and Utab herself is arrested, detained, and tortured for her Bahá’í beliefs.

Faced with Utab’s imminent execution, both families are determined to take every possible step to secure her freedom, as time may be running out. Azizi is a follower of the Bahá’í faith, and tragically, two of his real-life uncles were also executed in Iran due to their own ties to the same faith.

Shirin Youssefian has been cast to portray Vida’s mother in the upcoming film, titled “Cast Aside the Clouds“, which is scheduled to begin production in late September. This movie is backed by the One Planet Group and other private equity funds, and is produced by WestWind Pictures, known for creating the beloved Canadian sitcom “Little Mosque on the Prairies“.

A comedy series titled “Living Fish in Prairie”, produced by Zarqa Nawaz, showcased a close-knit Muslim community residing in a rural town, was broadcast on the CBC network from 2007 to 2012 and reached more than 80 countries worldwide.

20th Century Fox Television acquired the American adaptation rights for the Canadian sitcom, “Little Mosque on the Prairie,” but unfortunately, an American spin-off of this show never took flight.
