Creative Arts Emmys: ‘The Bear’ Sweeps Guest Acting in a Comedy Categories

As a long-time fan of both Jon Bernthal and Jamie Lee Curtis, seeing them win at this year’s Creative Arts Emmys was nothing short of exhilarating! Their performances as Mikey and Donna Berzatto in FX’s The Bear were simply outstanding, and it’s no surprise they took home the top honors.

On the second night of the 2024 Creative Arts Emmys, Jon Bernthal and Jamie Lee Curtis were recognized as the best guest actors and actresses in a comedy series. They earned this distinction for their performances as Mikey and Donna Berzatto on FX’s show The Bear.

Judy Reyes and Michael Cyril Creighton handed out the award for Best Guest Actor. However, Jon Bernthal was not present at the event. Nominees included Jon Bernthal (for his work on Hulu’s “Only Murders in the Building”), Matthew Broderick, Ryan Gosling (from NBC’s “Saturday Night Live”), Christopher Lloyd (of HBO/Max’s “Hacks”), Bob Odenkirk (on FX’s “The Bear”), and Will Poulter (also on FX’s “The Bear”).

As a devoted fan, I was thrilled to witness Brie Larson and Courtney McBroom present an award to the exceptionally talented Curtis. This honor came amidst stiff competition from remarkable actresses like Olivia Colman (“The Bear,” FX), Kaitlin Olson (“Hacks,” HBO/Max), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“Only Murders in the Building,” Hulu), Maya Rudolph (“Saturday Night Live,” NBC) and Kristen Wiig (“Saturday Night Live,” NBC).

Curtis expressed that The Bear was powerful because it allowed people to assist one another. She found it challenging to be a source of someone’s distress, but watching communities unite and resolve their problems left her amazed at this stage in her life.

In a past interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Curtis shared that it was quite challenging for her to conceal her role in the comedy show.

She expressed that she is an expert in widespread publicity, someone who excels at spreading information effectively. She maintained silence appropriately, as did others. That’s the strength of this situation. While I am a strong advocate for disseminating information, if something requires secrecy to allow people to discover it on their own, I am willing to deactivate my phone permanently.
