Dodge Enters Nitrocross with 1,000-Plus-HP Electric Hornet Rally Car

As a longtime follower of motorsports and a passionate gamer who has spent countless hours racing virtual rally cars, I can’t help but be thrilled about Dodge’s entry into the 2024-2025 Nitrocross Series. The allure of high-performance electric vehicles, combined with the adrenaline-pumping tracks of Group E class, has me on the edge of my seat.

2024-2025 marks the entrance of Dodge into the intense Nitrocross Series Group E class, as they showcase four electrifying 1,000+ horsepower Dodge Hornet R/T FC1-X rally cars. These all-wheel-drive vehicles will be managed by the esteemed Dreyer & Reinbold Racing (DRR) team, a group with a rich background in motorsports.

The racing season commenced at Richmond Raceway on September 7th and 8th, offering spectators the chance to witness the swift Hornet R/T FC1-X in motion. These electric rally vehicles, propelled by four axial flux motors, produce a staggering 1,070 horsepower and sprint from 0 to 60 mph in an astonishingly quick 1.4 seconds. Such impressive speed and power make them formidable opponents on the thrilling Nitrocross tracks, which blend pavement and dirt with jumps and tight curves.

Of particular note, the DRR team boasts an exceptional roster of drivers. Among them is Lia Block, a 17-year-old racer who is both the youngest competitor and the sole female in the Group E class, as she follows in the footsteps of her father Ken Block. Alongside Lia are Robin Larsson, a two-time Group E champion, Fraser McConnell, and Andres Bakkerud. This formidable combination promises a team ready to achieve great things.

Matt McAlear, CEO of Dodge, emphasized the harmony between the brand and the energetic, performance-focused crowd of Nitrocross. “We’re eagerly anticipating a fantastic debut season, and we can’t wait to introduce the Dodge Hornet to this rapidly expanding series,” he stated.
