As a seasoned gamer with memories of playing Atari 2600 and Nintendo Entertainment System etched into my soul, the prospect of owning a refurbished PS5 for $350 USD is nothing short of exhilarating! I’ve seen consoles come and go, and I’ve learned to appreciate a good deal when it presents itself.
If you’re still holding on to your old PS4 and haven’t made the jump to the PS5 yet, Sony has a more affordable option for you. At their latest PlayStation Direct event, they announced that they will be selling refurbished versions of the PS5 for $350 USD, which are guaranteed to be in good working condition.
The reconditioned equipment is available at a price that’s just one-half of the upcoming $700 PS5 Pro, which was unveiled on Monday.
Used or reconditioned PlayStation 5 consoles are those that can no longer be sold as brand new. A large portion of these consoles come from buyers who have returned them, even if they merely opened the packaging without ever using the console itself. It appears Sony is trying to reduce its PS5 inventory prior to the launch of the PS5 Pro in early November.
As confirmed by Sony, the previously owned consoles have undergone thorough cleaning, testing, and are now prepared to start anew in a fresh household.
The company assures you that you’ll get a product as good as new, using authentic PlayStation replacement components when necessary. It has been meticulously cleaned, checked, and tested to ensure it operates perfectly.
12-month warranties are included with all reconditioned gaming consoles, and while there’s no definitive launch date yet, Sony assures us that their Certified Refurbished program is on its way.
