As a devoted fan of Kaitlin Olson, I can wholeheartedly say that her loss at this year’s Emmys was not just a setback but an opportunity for even more hilarious and relatable social media posts. Her graciousness and self-deprecating humor in the face of disappointment are truly emblematic of her character, both on screen and off.

Anticipation for another season of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” can be a long wait, but luckily, the exceptionally skilled cast members are keeping busy with various TV shows and films in the interim. For instance, fans like myself are eagerly awaiting the fall television lineup to see Kaitlin Olson’s new dramedy, “High Potential.” However, it was her impressive performances on HBO’s “Hacks” that earned Olson a nomination for the 2024 Emmys.

Unfortunately for Hacks fans, when the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series winner was announced at the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony, it wasn’t Olson’s name that was in the envelope, but The Bear’s Jamie Lee Curtis, who won for her Season 3 performance as Carmy’s mom Donna. Ever the gracious nominee, Olson took to Instagram to share her A+ explanation for why she was just fine with losing to Curtis.

In a turn of events, I didn’t bag the Emmy for best guest star in a comedy series for “Hacks”. Instead, the exceptional Jamie Lee Curtis took home the award for her work on “The Bear”. To be honest, this comes as a big relief because if I had won, I wouldn’t have been able to continue my vocal protests about never winning an Emmy. A big shout-out to the team who made me appear Emmy-worthy, especially alongside my multiple Emmy-winning husband @robmcelhenney, who is now barred from complaining about anything.

Initially, there was likely a fair share of dismay due to the circumstances, which is only to be expected. However, kudos go to Olson for emerging on the other side with her smile unscathed and a positive perspective, even if it had a touch of self-effacement. It’s up to fans like me to express her deservedness.

Given that Dee Reynolds’ performance in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia seems to balance between a lead and a supporting role at 20%, let’s mutually decide to nominate her in both categories. She doesn’t necessarily need to win both, as that would be excessive. The same applies to Danny DeVito, who has previously won an Emmy for his role as Frank, deserving recognition for his outstanding work in either category.

As a devoted fan, I must say that even though the Emmys honored Jamie Lee Curtis, the dedicated Instagram team of Hacks didn’t forget to give a heartfelt shout-out to Kaitlin Olson in their comments.
