Tim Robinson Comedy Snags HBO Series Order

As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for dark humor and a knack for spotting potential in new shows, I can’t help but feel a surge of anticipation upon hearing about HBO’s upcoming series, “The Chair Company.” Tim Robinson, a familiar face from Netflix’s “I Think You Should Leave,” is stepping into the limelight once more, this time with his co-creator Zach Kanin.

His job is tables chairs.

HBO has greenlit the production of “The Chair Company”, a comedy series jointly created by and starring Tim Robinson, who is well-known for his work on the Emmy-winning Netflix sketch show “I Think You Should Leave”. Zach Kanin, a frequent collaborator of Robinson’s from “ITYSL”, “Saturday Night Live” and “Detroiters” on Comedy Central, is also co-creating the show with Robinson. Both will pen the scripts and serve as executive producers.

As a passionate fan, I’d like to share that Adam McKay, Todd Schulman, and their production company HyperObject Industries (alongside Igor Srubshchik) are among those who oversee the project. Interestingly, Andrew DeYoung, known for directing Robinson’s film “Friendship,” is the one behind the camera for this pilot, also serving as an executive producer.

The Chair Company’s narrative will trace the journey of an individual known as William Ronald Trosper (Robinson), who, following a humiliating workplace event, embarks on unraveling a vast and intricate conspiracy.

Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO and Max comedy programming, commented that William Ronald Trosper embodies a character with a unique stamp by Tim and Zach, fitting squarely within the esteemed lineage of HBO comedy leads. She expressed her delight in confirming the show’s acquisition, as it promises to be an engaging and entertaining watch.

Robinson and Kanin expressed their enthusiasm and gratitude in a release, stating, “It’s an absolute joy and privilege to be working on this series with HBO, HyperObject, and the incredible team of actors and technicians who have brought it to life.

The primary cast for “The Chair Company” includes Lake Bell, Sophia Lillis, Will Price, and Joseph Tudisco. In the pilot episode, Lou Diamond Phillips makes a special appearance.
