Sonic Dream Team introduces brand new updates and jams for Sonic fans to enjoy

  • Sonic Dream Team, the Apple Arcade-exclusive Sonic game is getting a major new update
  • The addition of Powers gives your roster of famous Sonic faces plenty of options to play
  • There’s also the addition of new soundtracks from throughout the Sonic franchise to unlock

As a long-time Sonic fan who can remember the days of chasing after Chaos Emeralds on my trusty Sega Genesis, I must say that the latest update for Sonic Dream Team on Apple Arcade has me absolutely thrilled! The addition of Powers to the gameplay offers an exciting new layer of strategy and customization, while the overhauled Tails Challenges provide a fresh take on an old favorite.

The unique team, Sonic Dream Team, available only on Apple Arcade, is about to receive a significant upgrade. This update introduces new gameplay elements, modifications to the Tails Challenge mode, and additional music tracks from the franchise’s rich history for your listening pleasure. Let’s explore what this update has in store!

Initially, the main update introduces new features called Powers. These are unique abilities that you can acquire and use throughout your gameplay. Some of these powers include Stomp, Super Glide, Wall Boost, among others. You can unlock these powers by participating in Tails Challenges. By the way, the challenges themselves are undergoing a transformation with the introduction of new Score Attack levels to engage with.

In addition to other features, you’ll find new soundtracks from the Sonic the Hedgehog series that can be unlocked by completing Tails Challenges. These challenges will also change daily, giving you the chance to earn an S-rank, which in turn grants additional XP and rewards.

Gotta’ go fast!

I think the only criticism I could levy against Sonic Dream Team is that it’s stuck on the Apple Arcade service. This is not to say this is a limited, or at all bad, catalogue by any means. But it does limit the potential audience at a time when Sonic has been branching out onto mobile with appearances on Roblox and new games in the works thanks to the acquisition of Angry Birds developers Rovio by Sega. Here’s hoping we’ll see more hit Android in future.
