Pre-Loved Fashion Walks the eBay Runway at London Fashion Week

As a seasoned gamer of the fashion world, I’ve seen trends come and go, but the concept of pre-loved fashion is undoubtedly one that has stood the test of time. Having witnessed the evolution of London Fashion Week for decades, I can say with confidence that this collaboration between eBay and LFW is a game-changer.

To mark the 40th anniversary of London Fashion Week, eBay organized a catwalk showcasing pre-owned outfits, which were styled by their Pre-loved Style Director, Amy Bannerman. This event highlighted popular designers such as Simone Rocha, Martine Rose, and Alexander McQueen. The goal was to emphasize the significance of secondhand clothing and inspire this year’s London Fashion Week attendees to consider shopping secondhand.

Highlighting classic pieces from brands that have significantly influenced London Fashion Week over the past four decades, the catwalk showcased items such as Mulberry’s iconic Bayswater handbag, Wales Bonner’s adidas collaboration, and the popular Chopova Lowena skirt. Each item became immediately available for purchase on eBay as models strutted down the runway, with prices ranging from £24 to a more expensive £1,000.

Fashion with a history is making a splash now, and eBay’s event is leading the way. It’s a special moment for me as I help organize this, as it mirrors eBay’s spirit of treasure hunting, combining 40 years of London fashion heritage. My hope is that people can find the same delight in discovering amazing British brands through Endless Runway and my carefully selected collection, just like I have with eBay for the past 23 years. It serves as a reminder of how fashion can endure, adapt, and continue to surprise us,” said Bannerman.

Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council expressed her enthusiasm about collaborating with eBay on their Endless Runway during London Fashion Week. By listing these items on their marketplace, eBay is making it possible for a larger audience to delve into and appreciate the history of London Fashion Week spanning over the past 40 years. This partnership demonstrates that genuine designer fashion can be accessible to everyone.
