Black Adam v Superman: Dawn of Justice II Concept Trailer Teases Scrapped Movie

As a lifelong Superman fan who has seen countless iterations of the Man of Steel, I must say that the prospect of seeing Black Adam face off against him was nothing short of exhilarating. The trailer for “Black Adam v Superman: Dawn of Justice 2″ has only fueled my excitement, even if it’s just a cleverly edited mashup of old footage and dramatic music.

The tale of Superman’s final storyline is now known for its legendary status, mockery, and disillusionment. The playful post-credit scene from Black Adam represented DC’s effort to forcefully insert their character into the DCEU, hinting at a grand confrontation between him and Superman. For those yearning to witness this titanic battle, a new trailer offers a glimpse of what could have transpired.

In their latest YouTube upload, Screen Culture showcased a hypothetical trailer for “Black Adam vs Superman: Justice Beyond Daybreak.” Although the title’s second part seems confusing given the Justice League was already established, this video is essentially a creative blend of edited older footage, dramatic soundtracks, subtle AI influence, and teasing previews of a movie that sadly will not be produced. You can watch the trailer here:

It’s clear that the low earnings of the film “Black Adam” didn’t receive a boost from Henry Cavill’s cameo any more than the box office success of “Morbius” was influenced by its post-credit scenes featuring Vulture and Spider-Man tease. This underperformance doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be a second Black Adam movie, but it does suggest that the DCEU as we know it might be nearing its end. Warner Bros. appears to be phasing out the old franchise in preparation for James Gunn and Peter Safran’s upcoming reboot.

Could Fans Ever See Black Adam Again?

Absolutely, the world of Hollywood is unpredictable. As of now, I don’t see any plans for the original DCEU Justice League cast members to be part of the new DCU narrative, but who knows what twists and turns might occur down the line? By the time Superman graces our screens in 2025, it would have been nearly two years since a new DC movie was released. This lengthy gap could provide ample opportunity for Gunn and Safran’s universe to establish itself uniquely, without being constantly compared to its predecessors.

Meanwhile, it’s worth noting that other DC projects are continuing alongside the main franchise, particularly Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” universe. This situation implies that two versions of the Dark Knight will coexist, as the projects under Reeves fall under the Elseworlds label. If a Black Adam project is to materialize, it would likely be here, with Johnson in the lead role.

In essence, due to the negative reaction and poor box office performance of the movie, along with the apparent abandonment of Johnson’s ambitious plans to expand the DC universe with Black Adam as the central figure, it seems highly improbable that the character will be revived in this form – if such a thing happens at all.

Currently, Gunn’s new DC universe has captured the interest of many fans. The coming months will reveal the response it garners, but with luck, there will be several years of DC Universe content ahead, giving us a clearer picture of its success by this time next year.
