As a seasoned Hollywood observer with decades of experience under my belt, let me tell you, the 18th annual Evening Before fundraiser was an unforgettable spectacle that truly encapsulates the magic and camaraderie of Tinseltown. The event, held at Century Park in Los Angeles, was a star-studded affair where I rubbed shoulders with legends like Jon Hamm, Eric André, and Keegan-Michael Key, just to name a few.
Good times were had and millions were raised at MPTF‘s 18th annual Evening Before fundraiser.
On Saturday evening, the fundraising gala, titled “The Starry Event,” took place at Century Park in Los Angeles, amassing $2.5 million for the Motion Picture and Television Fund’s programs and facilities at the Wasserman Campus in Woodland Hills. The event was a star-studded affair, gathering Emmy nominees, winners, and notable figures from Hollywood’s A-list on the eve of television’s most prestigious night. Studio Komorebi creatively transformed Century Park into a laid-back town square, offering carnival games and food stations catered by renowned Los Angeles chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo from Carmelized Prods.
A multitude of celebrities mingled with the co-chairs of Evening Before, Greg Berlanti and Robbie Rogers, alongside Jon Hamm and Anna Osceola Hamm, as well as Sheryl Lee Ralph. The event was graced by the presence of Eric André, Awkwafina, Justin Baldoni, Alex Borstein, Alison Brie, Quinta Brunson, Nicola Coughlan, Alan Cumming, Laura Dern, Ayo Edebiri, Nikki Glaser, Brett Goldstein, Max Greenfield, Alana Haim, Glenn Howerton, Brendan Hunt, Devery Jacobs, Joshua Jackson, Allison Janney, Keegan-Michael Key, Aja Naomi King, Nick Kroll, Michelle Monaghan, Annie Murphy, Lily Rabe, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Sam Richardson, Adam Scott, Rachel Sennott, Andrew Scott, Morgan Spector, Christian Slater, Juno Temple, Jesse Williams, Tyler James Williams, and others.
Amidst an industry still finding its footing, Bob Beitcher, CEO of MPTF, noted that the second Emmys weekend gathering in 2024 was far from lacking. “The show of unity within our industry was truly impressive,” he said, reflecting on the event known as The Evening Before. “It was another terrific evening for our entertainment community and MPTF.
Hamm, nominated for Fargo, remarked: ‘This remarkable organization not only gathers vital funds but also offers numerous services to our industry’s family in times of utmost necessity. I’m thrilled to honor everyone’s achievements while backing an initiative that aids many generations.’
The following entities served as principal sponsors: Delta Air Lines, Penske Media Corporation (the parent company of The Hollywood Reporter), People magazine, and UCLA Health. Additional backing was provided by Apple TV+, Netflix, and Warner Bros. Discovery.
