In a recent conversation with News 18, film producer Guneet Monga stood up for Karan Johar amidst allegations of nepotism. She pointed out that while Dharma Productions is frequently viewed as specializing in love songs and romantic comedies, the company has also taken on a variety of projects, such as the gritty thriller Kill.

Beyond her initial statement, she emphasized that they collaborate extensively with debut directors, fostering their growth. They provide opportunities to numerous new scriptwriters and performers. This significant entity produces both film and streaming projects while mentoring many individuals. It’s unjustified for them to be criticized solely for working with specific groups; it’s quite unfair indeed.

Despite having distinct filmmaking histories, Guneet Monga points out a common love for cinema that binds her with Karan Johar. She labels their collaboration on Kill as a fruitful co-production, emphasizing their shared passion – Johar’s profound cinematic interest and her fervor for storytelling.

Monga emphasizes that their desire to work together has been persistent for some time. When she introduced Kill to Johar, he reacted favorably right away. She expressed faith in Johar and Dharma Productions, believing they would assist and distribute the film successfully, largely due to their extensive professional rapport.

She reflects on how much she learned during that time, noting that without Dharma Productions and Karan’s support, the film might not have been released in India. She added, “They marketed it so well. They came, championed it, made it their own, and took it far and wide. The success of the film is as much as Dharma’s as all the producers.”

She usually works alone, hoping that her creations will be noticed, valued, and backed by viewers. Moreover, she emphasized the positive responses received, showing great enthusiasm for the unique mix of police investigation elements combined with a hint of sci-fi in Gyaarah Gyaarah.

In the show titled “Gyaarah Gyaarah”, actor Raghav Juyal assumes the character of Yug Arya, while Kritika Kamra takes on the role of Vamika Rawat.
