Mugler Announces Documentary Ahead of Paris Fashion Week

As a fashion enthusiast with decades of experience under my belt, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia and anticipation at the news of the upcoming Mugler documentary. Having witnessed the evolution of this iconic brand from its early days to its current resurgence, I’m eager to delve deeper into the history that has captivated the world’s most influential performers, from Lady Gaga to Beyoncé.

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that we’re finally getting an in-depth documentary about Mugler! This captivating journey will delve into the rich history of the iconic Parisian label, founded by Manfred Thierry Mugler, and unveil the fresh vision the maison is embracing under the creative direction of Casey Cadwallader.

“Delving into Dreams: Mugler” – This is an hour-long film, directed by Matthieu Menu, who also crafted the documentary for Dior’s 2023 fragrance. The movie invites viewers on a journey through the half-century history of Mugler’s daring couture creations, such as the “Chimère” mermaid gown. Additionally, it offers a glimpse backstage at the SS24 presentation by creative director Casey Cadwallader. Rare archival footage from Mugler’s beginnings will be showcased alongside recent behind-the-scenes moments, like Zendaya’s red carpet appearance at Dune: Part 2 in the futuristic FW95 “Maschinenmench” suit.

Following the transfer of his company leadership to Cadwallader in 2017, Manfred Thierry Mugler sadly passed away in January 2022. His collection of garments that challenged traditional femininity, earned his brand a prestigious reputation among global influencers such as Lady Gaga and Beyoncé. Some of his most renowned pieces were showcased at museums worldwide for the Thierry Mugler: Couturissime exhibition, with the final display taking place at Brooklyn Museum in November 2022.

A day following the movie’s first screening, the Cadwallader Mugler SS25 Women’s line will make its runway debut during Paris Fashion Week on Monday, September 26th, starting at 2:30PM.

The upcoming documentary is set to air on Canal+ in France on September 25. It’s also planned to appear on Amazon Prime Video and various international streaming services shortly after that date.
