Blumhouse’s Best Horror Movies Returning to Theaters for Halloween

Blumhouse's Best Horror Movies Returning to Theaters for Halloween

As a seasoned horror aficionado with a penchant for all things spine-tingling and terrifying, I can hardly contain my excitement for AMC Theatres’ “Thrills & Chills” and BlumFest 2024. With my trusty popcorn bucket in one hand and my heart ready to race at the drop of a hat, I eagerly await the chilling cinematic celebration that is about to descend upon us this October.

Prepare to illuminate your jack-o’-lanterns and send the children off to bed early, because the upcoming Wednesdays this autumn are about to become noticeably spookier at AMC Theatres. As part of their “Thrills & Chills” series, Blumhouse is set to showcase some of their most chilling horror movies in celebration of the approach of Halloween. BlumFest 2024 kicks off next week on September 25 with special 15th anniversary screenings of the found-footage hit, “Paranormal Activity.” Over the following weeks through October, the schedule (see below) also features the studio’s highest-grossing film, “Five Nights at Freddy’s,” and the horror adventure inspired by “Groundhog Day,” titled “Happy Death Day.

AMC’s Thrills & Chills, BlumFest 2024 Horror Movie Lineup:

  • September 25: Paranormal Activity
  • October 2: Lights Out
  • October 9: Insidious: Chapter 2
  • October 16: Happy Death Day
  • October 23: The Black Phone
  • October 30: Five Nights at Freddy’s

It’s a bummer that some people might need to travel to attend BlumFest 2024, as it won’t be shown at every local cinema. Although 150 venues across 54 cities are hosting the “Thrills & Chills” event, not all AMC cinemas will screen the scary movies. For example, the AMC Empire 25 in New York City will show all six films, but the AMC Lincoln Square 13 won’t.

Jason Blum, CEO of Blumhouse, expressed his thoughts about the eerie cinematic tribute (as reported by Deadline): “October is a heartfelt ode to Halloween and our audience, and we’re thankful to AMC for participating in BlumFest, our annual October event dedicated to all things Blumhouse. I can hardly believe that we’re already commemorating the 15th anniversary of Paranormal Activity, as it seems like we’re merely at the beginning.

As Halloween draws nearer, and AMC’s “Thrills & Chills” along with BlumFest 2024 ramp up the scares in October, another chilling production from Blumhouse is now dominating the box office. The reboot of the 2022 film “Speak No Evil” started its cinema release last weekend, securing the number-two spot with a $11.4 million earning.

Furthermore, it’s worth noting that “Five Nights at Freddy’s” stands as Blumhouse’s highest-earning film globally, raking in a staggering $297.1 million, according to The Numbers. Elizabeth Frank, Executive Vice President and Chief Content & Programming Officer for AMC Entertainment Inc., also emphasizes the significant impact of horror movie marathons such as this during October, a month particularly cherished by film enthusiasts.

The spooky atmosphere of Halloween amplifies the enjoyment of horror films. We can’t wait to share the thrill of BlumFest on the silver screen, offering beloved movies along with exclusive bonus material.

Pre-purchase your tickets for the “Thrills & Chills” and BlumFest 2024 movie series at AMC Theatres’ website. Screenings will be held weekly at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., but prices may differ depending on the location. It’s unclear whether the six Blumhouse films can be viewed using their subscription service, AMC Stubs A-List, which lets members watch up to three movies a week for $19.99 to $24.99 monthly, based on the theater’s location.
