WWE Saturday Night's Main Event Series Sets Return on Peacock & NBC

As a long-time WWE enthusiast who has witnessed the rise and fall of many wrestling legends, I can’t help but feel a wave of nostalgia upon hearing that Saturday Night’s Main Event is returning to our screens after all these years. I remember vividly watching those iconic events as a child, filled with excitement as I watched Hulk Hogan and his contemporaries battle it out in the ring. The return of this legendary show brings back memories of my youth, and I can’t help but feel a sense of anticipation for what lies ahead.

Fans of WWE have plenty to be excited about right now! Starting in January, Monday Night Raw will be available on Netflix, Smackdown is currently airing on the USA Network, and Saturday Night’s Main Event is making a comeback in December as part of the company’s deal with NBCUniversal. According to Variety, the first special will simultaneously air on both NBC and Peacock on December 18 at 8e/5p, and it will be broadcast from its original location, the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island, New York, where it all began almost 40 years ago.

Not only is this just the start, but the agreement between WWE and NBCUniversal also paves the way for a grand total of four quarterly Saturday Night’s Main Event specials on their network. The presale tickets for the first event will be available starting from Thursday, September 19. Fans can already register on WWE’s website to secure a special presale bonus offer. The official ticket sales begin on Friday, September 20, offering both general admission and priority passes that will grant fans exclusive access to hospitality events, photo opportunities with the superstars, and much more, bringing them even closer to the action.

In the dynamic realm of WWE, the lineup for December’s Saturday Night’s Main Event is still a work in progress. We’ve got three major live events ahead – Bad Blood, Crown Jewel, and Survivor Series – each with the potential to reshape the current landscape and crown new champions. Saturday Night’s Main Event Was Host To Many Memorable Moments

Debuting on NBC in 1985, Saturday Night’s Main Event pioneered a new era for the wrestling industry, as prime-time network television broadcasts of wrestling were uncommon prior to this. After running for a total of 31 episodes from 1985 to 1992, the show took a break and reappeared in 2006 for five episodes spread over a two-year period.

Forty years ago, the first episode of “Saturday Night’s Main Event” showcased Vince McMahon and Jesse Ventura as commentators, and it seems the WWE might aim to recreate that magic in 2024. However, following accusations of sexual assault and human trafficking (under federal investigation), McMahon is no longer with the company. Yet, Ventura hinted at a potential return through a Legend’s Deal with the firm, which could mend their relationship after years apart. Whether The Body will commentate again remains to be seen; we’ll find out in December.
