Tadayuki Kato and Shinsuke Nakada Present the Third VANS TOKYO DESIGN COLLECTIVE Capsule

As a connoisseur of streetwear and a child of the ’90s, I can’t help but feel a surge of nostalgia when I lay my eyes upon the Vans Tokyo Design Collective Slip-On 98. The fusion of Harajuku culture and London punk scene is a potent cocktail that resonates deeply with me.

Tadayuki Kato and Shinsuke Nakada, under their Vans’ sublabel – VANS TOKYO DESIGN COLLECTIVE – have launched their third collection. This collection includes both footwear and clothing. The designers have revamped the iconic slip-on design of Vans (the Vans Slip-On 98) as well as introduced a variety of stylish apparel inspired by the vibrant Harajuku culture from the 1990s and the continuously changing London punk scene.

In terms of footwear design, Kato and Nakada have innovatively revamped the traditional Slip-On style in two fresh colors. One version features a gray plaid pattern accentuated by black dotted highlights, whereas the other opt for an all-black look, enhanced with intricate white dotting details.

Regarding clothing, the designers provide warm but light items suitable for the cold weather, including a versatile puffer coat jacket that can be turned inside out, along with a collection of half-zip hoodies. The color palette is mostly muted, ranging from navy blue, gray, and black.

Take a look at the sneakers and clothing displayed in the gallery above, as the entire third collection from VANS TOKYO DESIGN COLLECTIVE will be available for purchase starting this coming Saturday, September 21st, exclusively at the official VANS TOKYO DESIGN COLLECTIVE online store.
