On Go Skateboarding Day in June, a leaked image of the Parra x OTW by Vans Half Cab stirred speculation that the vibrant shoe would hit stores by year’s end. While not all rumors have been confirmed, it has been verified that a Parra x OTW by Vans Half Cab is indeed coming out. However, unlike the colorful version initially leaked, the general release pair will feature a different colorway: the leaked image was actually a friends-and-family exclusive variant, and now we have our first glimpse of the widely available shoe.
The two versions share the timeless design of the Half Cab, yet they differ drastically in their colorblocking due to Parra’s distinctive wavy brushwork. In contrast to the friends and family pair which leans heavily towards grey tones, the widely available version boasts a vibrant array of colors from Parra’s signature mix of oranges, greens, blues, reds, and pinks that extend from heel to toe. As Artist Piet Parra, creator of his own brand, mentioned in an earlier interview with Artist Up Close, “I prefer the bright hues, such as oranges, blues, and pinks, as they bring me joy.
Additional distinctive features of these sneakers are personalized tags on both the tongue and collar, complemented by sharp eggshell-colored middlesoles and pristine white laces that complete the overall appearance.
According to Retailer Sivasdescalzo, the Parra x OTW by Vans Half Cab is expected to drop on September 23rd. However, this date is not officially confirmed by either Parra or Vans yet. Once it’s released, the shoe will be sold for $160 USD.
