As a long-time fan of gripping true crime stories and captivating performances, I am absolutely thrilled by the announcement that Charlie Hunnam will be portraying Ed Gein in the third season of Ryan Murphy’s Netflix anthology series, Monster. Having followed the chilling tales of serial killers like Dahmer, it feels like I’ve come full circle with this latest casting news.
Actor Charlie Hunnam will take on the role of notorious murderer and grave robber, Ed Gein, in the upcoming third season of Ryan Murphy’s Netflix horror series titled “Monster“.
The announcement came during the Los Angeles debut of “Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” – the second season after “DAHMER”. Hunnam portrayed Gein, who was also known as the Butcher of Plainfield or the Plainfield Ghoul, a role he took on due to his chilling actions in Plainfield, Wisconsin from 1947 to 1957. His gruesome deeds included exhuming bodies from graveyards and creating macabre souvenirs with them. He also admitted to murdering two women, but it’s suspected he was responsible for additional killings.
Before you see Hunnam’s portrayal of Gein, fans of the anthology series can look forward to The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, set to debut on September 19th. This show is based on a real-life event: the Menendez brothers, who were convicted in 1996 for murdering their parents. The prosecution suggested that Lyle and Erik killed their parents for the inheritance, but the brothers have consistently claimed they acted out of years of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents.
