Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama to hit Indian theaters for 1st time after 31 years; Check date

As a lifestyle expert who has grown up with the tales of Ramayana woven into my childhood, I am beyond thrilled to witness this timeless epic making its grand return to Indian cinemas after three decades. The collaboration between Japan and India on this project is not just a testament to global unity but also a celebration of shared cultural heritage, something that resonates deeply with me.

31 years after its initial release, the anime movie “Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama,” retelling the story of Lord Rama’s fight against Lankesh, is finally coming to Indian theaters on October 18, 2024. The film will be accessible in various languages like Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu. Excel Entertainment, a company owned by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, is handling its distribution. To announce the release, Farhan himself posted a teaser on his Instagram Stories.

Originally debuting at the Indian International Film Festival in 1993, the movie later aired on television. Boosting its prestige, the acclaimed screenwriter Shri V Vijayendra Prasad, known for hit movies such as Baahubali, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, and RRR, contributed his creative talent to this adaptation.

The post read, “A tale as old as time, and forever alive in every heart. Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama coming to theaters across India in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English on October 18! Teaser out now.”

The Legend of Prince Rama: A Ramayana, a joint endeavor between Japan and India, was first presented in 1992. This film is inspired by the ancient Indian epic, the Ramayana. Under the guidance of directors Koichi Sasaki and Ram Mohan, with music composed by Vanraj Bhatia, this production vividly portrays the tale of Prince Rama.

This animated film, a collaboration between Japan’s Yugo Sako and India’s Ram Mohan, revisits the ancient tale of Ramayana. It skillfully combines animation styles from both nations. The plot revolves around Prince Rama, a manifestation of the deity Vishnu, embarking on a journey to rescue his wife Sita, who is kidnapped by the demon king Ravana. Even though it was hand-drawn and produced many years ago, this film remains remarkable for its storytelling and visuals, maintaining the essence of Indian mythology.

Set for release during the celebratory seasons of Dussehra and Diwali, the film “Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama” offers a cinematic experience that seamlessly blends India’s rich cultural heritage with the artistic finesse of Japanese anime. This production will be distributed across India by Geek Pictures India, AA Films, and Excel Entertainment, aiming to enthrall audiences throughout the country.
