As a die-hard fan of Todd Phillips’ masterpieces, the anticipation for Joker: Folie A Deux is almost unbearable! The reunion of Joaquin Phoenix and Hildur Guðnadóttir, whose enchanting score was instrumental in bringing the character of Joker to life, has me absolutely giddy with excitement.

The eagerly awaited follow-up to Todd Phillips’ award-winning movie Joker from 2019, named Joker: Duo of Madness, is scheduled for release on October 2, 2024.

In a new turn of events, Joaquin Phoenix reprises his Academy Award-winning dual character as Arthur Fleck/Joker, joining forces with another Academy Award winner, Lady Gaga, who portrays Harley Quinn. Before the premiere of the movie, TopMob has shared insights into Phoenix and Phillips’ collaboration with Oscar-winning composer Hildur Gudnadottir for Joker: Folie A Deux.

Regarding Hildur Guðnadóttir resuming work for the sequel, Joaquin Phoenix mentioned, “Hildur’s music played a significant role in the original movie, helping shape certain aspects of the character. I believe I discovered the character better while listening to her music on set as we filmed. That feeling when something becomes alive like that is truly unique, and it’s even more special knowing it was captured on film.

Starting from there, I found the character and Hildur’s music to be deeply connected. It was thrilling to learn that she would be returning for this movie, as the actor shared.

As a lifestyle expert, I found myself deeply immersed in the exploration of the character’s self-expression within this movie, and a significant aspect of that was through Hildur’s music. It was truly rewarding not only to have her back on board but also to listen to her fresh interpretations of those familiar themes.

In response to being questioned about working together again on the project, Todd Phillips expressed that it was an obvious choice. He further explained, “For us, there wasn’t any variant of this movie where we didn’t reach out to Hildur for the music score.

He further elaborated, “Similar to what I mentioned earlier, I believe that Hildur’s music played a pivotal role in the first film, almost as significant as another main character. Following this thought, we approached Hildur early on, just like we did for the initial movie. Not only did she read the script and compose the score for the film, but we also shared some of our song arrangements with her, such as For Once In My Life or Bewitched, and asked her to put her unique touch on them.

Phillips explained, “I coined a new term instead of using the usual one, but to fit her performance within established norms. She seemed to embrace it wholeheartedly and I believe she found it enjoyable. It also gives the impression that those standards are organic to our movie.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share that the upcoming film “Folie A Deux” promises an intriguing exploration into Arthur Fleck’s life post-institutionalization at Arkham, where he awaits trial for his actions as the Joker. Beyond the legal proceedings, this captivating tale delves into Arthur’s journey of finding true love and unearthing the music that has long resonated within him. Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga lend their talents to the movie, with esteemed actors like Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener joining them on screen. Notably, Zazie Beetz reprises her role from “Joker”, contributing to this compelling narrative.
