The Latest Disney Parks Rumors Are Great News For Anyone That Wants To Visit The Non-US Locations

As a seasoned gamer of theme parks and a lifelong enthusiast, I can confidently say that my heart skips a beat whenever there’s news about new attractions coming to Disneyland Resort. With international travel being a dream rather than a reality for now, I’ve been keeping my fingers crossed, hoping to get a taste of those magical experiences through domestic parks.

At TopMob, serving as a theme park aficionado, I make it a point to visit various parks frequently and aim to explore as many as I can. Unfortunately, my international travel isn’t as frequent as I’d prefer, so most of my hands-on experience revolves around domestic theme parks. I’m more knowledgeable about the delicious dishes at Disneyland in Anaheim than those offered at Disneyland in Paris. My dream is to check out Disney’s international parks, as they offer unique experiences that you can’t find at Disneyland or Walt Disney World.

Previously, I advocated for Disneyland to adopt attractions freshly opened in Tokyo DisneySea. Although it seems they aren’t doing this directly (yet), some of the upcoming Disneyland attractions at the resort appear to incorporate the finest aspects from popular overseas rides.

Several Upcoming Disneyland Attractions Look To Be Based On Rides From International Disney Parks

During the D23 event held in August, Disney Experiences announced some exciting new additions coming soon to Disneyland Resort. These include an Avatar land featuring two attractions, a ride based on the movie “Coco,” and the much-anticipated Avengers Campus E-Ticket. Groundbreaking for the Avengers Campus is expected to begin as early as 2025.

Most of these upcoming attractions at Disneyland Resort remain a mystery, as only the bare essentials have been disclosed. We’re unsure about their specific design or location within the park, or even if they might be part of the planned expansion. The hints we’ve gathered suggest that these three new attractions will essentially be revamped versions of popular Asian attractions.

Although it may not appear thrilling at first glance, this development is quite intriguing since it potentially paves the way for unique attraction designs that North America has yet to witness. For those of us unfamiliar with international Disney parks, this could mark our long-awaited opportunity to ride these novel attractions.

Disney California Adventure’s Avatar E-Ticket Looks Like Pirates of the Caribban: Battle For The Sunken Treasure

As a devoted fan, let me share my take on the unparalleled experience that Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle For the Sunken Treasure offered, both before and perhaps even after Rise of the Resistance graced the Disney theme park attractions. The Shanghai Disneyland version, unlike its counterparts in other parks, was uniquely tailored to the Pirates of the Caribbean film series rather than serving as the original inspiration for the films. Characters like Jack Sparrow and Davy Jones were integral parts of the ride. What truly set it apart, however, was the seamless fusion of physical sets and screens, creating a boat ride that made you feel as if you were sailing alongside towering pirate vessels on actual water. Even the boat itself operated more like a trackless dark ride than a typical boat attraction, adding an extra layer of immersion to this unforgettable experience.

Given that it’s been confirmed that the main inspiration for the new Avatar land at Disney California Adventure comes from “Avatar: The Way of Water,” and that the attraction is expected to be a boat ride where guests navigate alongside giant whale-like tulkun, there’s a strong likelihood that this new attraction will be constructed using the foundation of the Shanghai Pirates attraction. Visitors will journey through an area modeled after the second Avatar film and become part of a narrative that unfolds through both physical sets and screens.

Avengers: Infinity Defense May Use The Ride System Of Tokyo DisneySea’s Peter Pan Ride

Ever since Disneyland Resort unveiled plans for the Avengers Campus, visitors were told that a significant E-Ticket ride would be added during phase two of development. After several years and a global health crisis, there had been doubts if this roller coaster-like attraction would ever materialize. However, at the D23 event, it was officially confirmed that Avengers: Infinity Defense will break ground in 2025.

As an ardent enthusiast, one aspect that piques my curiosity about Infinity Defense isn’t just the concept art, but rather the design of the ride vehicle. It’s a substantial and spacious vehicle, yet its layout seems strikingly familiar, sharing striking resemblances with the vehicles used in the Peter Pan’s Neverland Adventure attraction at the Fantasy Springs expansion in Tokyo DisneySea. This implies that Infinity Defense could be a trackless dark ride, seamlessly blending physical sets and screens to immerse guests in the multiverse adventure we’ve been promised.

The New Coco Attraction May Be Inspired By Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival

At D23, another exciting addition to look forward to was a boat ride inspired by the movie Coco. It’s anticipated that this new attraction will either be situated within the current Pixar Pier area or nearby. We have glimpses of the concept art suggesting it will indeed be a boat ride, and Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro hinted at the use of state-of-the-art animatronics for an immersive experience.

At another Disney Park, they’ve launched a boat tour featuring remarkably sophisticated robotics. The ride is called Rapunzel’s Lantern Festival, a stunning and vibrant dark ride based on the movie ‘Tangled’. Turning this idea into a ‘Coco’ attraction seems like a logical step.

I Still Want To Visit All The Disney Parks, But Being Able To Have These Rides Is The Next Best Thing

Certainly getting an Avatar ride that is very similar to Shanghai’s Pirates of the Caribbean or an Avengers Ride that uses similar concepts as Japan’s new Peter Pan ride is not the same as being able to actually ride those original attractions. And I certainly still want to do that. I won’t be taking a world tour of Disney Parks off my bucket list anytime soon.

Before the chance arises for me to try out these new Disneyland rides, if they do turn out to be inspired by earlier attractions, I’ll be able to enjoy something similar. That way, I won’t just speculate about what the rides feel like.
