As a die-hard football fan who has grown up idolizing Lionel Messi, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and admiration as I read about his new venture into the world of entertainment. Messi, a living legend on the pitch, is now set to conquer the silver screen! His production company, 525 Rosario, promises to bring us content that reflects his values, passion, and unique perspective – all while maintaining the family-friendly vibe that he embodies off the field.
A well-known global athlete is stepping into the arena to establish a production company under his own brand.
Lionel Messi, the soccer player who made a late-career move similar to Beckham’s by joining MLS and playing for Inter Miami, has established a film and television production company named 525 Rosario. This name is a tribute to his childhood home in Argentina with the same address. The company will have offices in both Miami and Los Angeles.
525 Rosario was established as a collaborative effort between the Messi family and Smuggler Entertainment, the production house responsible for Apple TV+’s series “Messi’s World Cup: The Emergence of a Legend” and “Messi Meets America”. Tim Pastore, who oversees Smuggler and produced “Messi’s World Cup”, will be taking on the role of CEO at 525 Rosario. He also has producing credits for titles such as “Free Solo” and the Jane Goodall documentary “Jane”.
525 Rosario has been assigned the task of creating editorial content, which may include more candid documentaries, kid-friendly programming, and branded stories for commercial partners. This new collaborative project will be represented by WME.
I’ve always been deeply drawn to entertainment, be it on the soccer field or elsewhere. I’m incredibly excited about the chance to develop the project we initiated with Smuggler Entertainment and grow it even more, aiming to produce content and experiences that can reach a global audience through this new undertaking,” Messi expressed.
By establishing 525 Rosario, Messi follows in the footsteps of renowned global athletes like LeBron James, Steph Curry, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Serena Williams, and Naomi Osaka, who have all ventured into content production to offer their work directly to buyers. These sports figures have noted a growing interest among buyers in collaborating with them.
This shingle signifies a growth phase for a high-earning athlete who currently ranks as the third highest-paid sports figure worldwide, with an impressive total of $135 million earned both on and off the field over the past year, according to Forbes’ 2024 earnings summary.
Pastore mentioned that our upcoming project is designed to amplify and emphasize the values represented by Leo Messi, not just through high-quality content available worldwide, but also through community engagement and family-oriented programs. We’re extremely thankful to both Leo and his family for allowing us to collaborate on media projects aimed at local and global audiences, while simultaneously challenging conventional boundaries in the field.
The Messi family’s statement continues, “Our aim is to inspire and connect with people worldwide in an entirely novel manner, and we are excited about this journey. We plan to keep progressing in the entertainment industry, launching fresh initiatives and productions that have a global impact through imaginative narratives, programming, and events.
