As a long-time fan of exceptional television, I am thrilled to see Margo Martindale joining the cast of the JonBenét Ramsey limited series on Paramount+. With her impressive resume that includes Emmy-winning performances in shows like “The Americans” and “Justified”, Martindale is no stranger to delivering powerful and nuanced characters. The fact that she will be portraying the tough, blunt, outspoken, and unafraid Nedra, mother of Patsy Ramsey (played by Melissa McCarthy) and grandmother to JonBenét, promises an unforgettable performance.
Paramount+‘s limited series about JonBenét Ramsey continues to attract a high-profile cast.
Joining our upcoming series is three-time Emmy Award winner Margo Martindale, well-known for her roles in “The Americans” and “Justified”. She’s set to reappear as Nedra, the mother of Patsy Ramsey, portrayed by Melissa McCarthy, and the grandmother to JonBenét. Her character is depicted as strong-willed, straightforward, outspoken, and not afraid to express her opinions openly.
McCarthy and Clive Owen portray the roles of Patsy and John Ramsey, JonBenét’s parents. The ensemble also features Emily Mitchell as JonBenét, Garrett Hedlund, Alison Pill, Owen Teague, Clifton Collins Jr., Rory Cochrane, Chris Bauer, Angus Caldwell, Shea Whigham, Will Patton, Jaime Ray Newman, and Josh Stamberg.
Filming for the new series is about to start in Calgary. Richard LaGravenese, known for his work on ‘Unbroken’ and ‘Behind the Candelabra’, is overseeing the production and co-writing it with Harrison Query and Tommy Wallach. The project was bought by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios after being pitched by these three. Anne Sewitsky, who previously worked on ‘Presumed Innocent’, will direct four out of the eight episodes in this series.
The show will trace the Ramsey family’s journey, both before and after the (yet unsolved) murder of JonBenét, as they endure the heartbreaking loss of a child amidst a nation-wide media storm surrounding this case. At its core, the series delves into the intricate relationship between Patsy and John Ramsey, two complex individuals, examining their unwavering bond – as partners and parents – who dedicated themselves to constructing an image of a flawless, affluent lifestyle, which was tragically shattered on Christmas night in 1996.
101 Studios’ LaGravense, Query, and Wallach serve as executive producers alongside David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, and David Hutkin on this project. Additionally, McCarthy and Sewitsky are also involved in the production.
Martindale’s recent credits include Mrs. Davis at Peacock, Showtime’s Your Honor and the feature film Cocaine Bear. She also narrates the Hallmark+ series The Chicken Sisters. She is repped by Gersh and Wolf Kasteler.
