As a devoted WWE fan who has spent countless hours streaming matches and documentaries, I can’t help but feel a pang of nostalgia as the news about Peacock losing the rights to Monday Night Raw and NXT comes my way. For years, I’ve grown accustomed to having these shows at my fingertips, and it seems like the rug is being pulled out from under me just when I thought we were entering a new era of WWE programming.

It’s not hidden that significant modifications are upcoming in WWE broadcasting, with USA Network reducing the duration of Monday Night Raw before its 2025 move to Netflix and bringing SmackDown onto their network. Furthermore, it appears there will be alterations on the streaming platform side as well, as we can anticipate WWE’s long-term streaming partner, Peacock, losing a substantial amount of WWE content in the near future.

According to a representative from Peacock, they’ve announced that the streaming service for Monday Night Raw will terminate on January 1st, 2025. Similarly, when NXT starts its fresh run on The CW on October 1st, Peacock plans to eliminate their library of NXT as well. At this point, it’s unclear if either show will be moving to a different streaming platform. Peacock is planning to add a countdown clock on their platform for the expiration date of NXT (September 19th) and one for Monday Night Raw starting December 2nd.

Peacock Will Lose Raw And NXT, But Keep SmackDown And More

In the process of shedding content, Peacock will maintain the streaming privileges for SmackDown as per its five-year contract with USA Network. At present, the entire previous season of SmackDown is accessible, and fresh episodes will be streamed 30 days following their broadcast on USA.

The platform retains the authority to broadcast the remaining upcoming WWE PLEs on its 2024 TV lineup. Notably, NBC serves as the broadcaster for Saturday Night Main Event, airing four shows annually. Additionally, the platform will maintain control over previously created WWE content, including American Nightmare: Becoming Cody Rhodes and other captivating wrestling documentaries.
