In my humble opinion as a film critic, “Fire Beast: A Tale from Mount Etna” unveils an intriguing twist where we discover the Fire Monster is none other than Nana, a relative of Steve Buscemi’s character. Nana, who hails from the same family tree as our beloved actor, transforms into this fearsome creature as a test to prove that Steve Buscemi is not just another stereotypical gangster, but a true hero.
10 Sonny & Cher

During their honeymoon on Shark Island, iconic pop duo Sonny and Cher find themselves stranded when the resort they’re staying at, Pescado Diabolico, turns out to be rundown and deserted. As they delve deeper, Sonny and Cher uncover a monstrous shark lurking on the island grounds. This thrilling adventure became one of the most-watched and critically acclaimed episodes of “The New Scooby-Doo Movies” series.
In the “Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?” series, Cher reprised her role, making another appearance as herself in an episode called “Cher, Scooby And The Sargossa Sea!” This time around, sharks with a villainous streak were causing trouble for Cher’s yacht. It was Scooby and Cher who teamed up to drive those sharks away. The episode featuring her second appearance on the show aired about 50 years after her initial appearance alongside Sonny in 1972.

In season 2 of “Batman: The Brave and the Bold,” Al, or rather “Weird Al” Yankovic, makes an appearance in a crossover episode with Scooby-Doo. The storyline commences when the gang goes to one of Al’s concerts, only to find that the venue is mysteriously haunted. The Footlight Phantom, a ghostly figure, begins to terrorize the theater and its guests. However, they eventually uncover that this entire ordeal was orchestrated by the Joker and the Penguin.

Later, at their reunion, Christian Slater repeated this behavior, causing havoc in his werewolf attire. This drew the attention of Mystery Inc., where he deceived them by rescuing the group from what appeared to be his own demise.
In my role as an ally, I orchestrated a ruse by feigning injuries and leading them astray, ultimately setting the stage for a trap. Little did we know, it was Christian Slater who had been unleashing the terror as the werewolf all along. Remarkably, Mulrooney found it within himself to grant forgiveness, not only for his past outbursts but also for this hidden identity.

What’s New, Scooby-Doo? Season 3, Episode 13 – “Reef Grief!” (2005)
Smash Mouth, known for their hit “All Star,” also appeared on the animated series “What’s New, Scooby-Doo?” In an episode titled “Reef Grief!”, the band is featured as they prepare and perform at the Australian Beach-A-Palooza Blast. In this show, there’s a lot of tension between the band members and other competitors in a sand castle building contest, among them Rama Yam.
In the midst of rumors about a Coral Reef Monster wreaking havoc, destroying sandcastles, the team encounters various rivalries while they hunt for this supposed beast. However, it turns out that the real culprit behind the sabotages at the festival was none other than Rama Yam, not some mythical monster all along.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies Season 1, Episode 9 – “The Spooky Fog of Juneberry” (1972)
In a different phrasing: Famous for portraying Barney Fife in The Andy Griffith Show, Don Knotts takes on another lawman role in the town of Juneberry, which mirrors his previous character. The Scooby-Doo gang, while traveling along an abandoned road, are seeking a place to dine. They arrive at Juneberry, only to find a thick fog enveloping the town, particularly its cemetery.
When Don Knotts, the lawman, found them, he led them to a secure location. As the story unfolded, it became apparent that Don Knotts was believed to be responsible for the fog. However, as events progressed, they realized it wasn’t Don Knotts, but a ghostly figure known as the Skeleton Man who had taken over the area. But upon further investigation, they found out it was Gene Haultrey, attempting to steal cattle amidst the foggy conditions. In the end, Mystery Inc. managed to expel him from the town of Juneberry, causing the fog to lift and restoring light to the town once more.
4 Cass Elliot
The New Scooby-Doo Movies Season 2, Episode 7 – “The Haunted Candy Factory” (1973)
In one of the episodes of “New Scooby-Doo Movies,” the renowned singer Cass Elliot, who was a key vocalist with the Mamas & Papas, portrayed a character resembling herself, named the proprietor of the Sugar Plum Candy Factory. When her security guard vanished and strange apparitions started haunting her factory, she enlisted the help of the mystery team to safeguard her business.
In the story, spheres colored green start dominating the factory, persistently bothering both the woman and her business. The plot has sparked a bit of debate because the writers had Cass Elliot make humorous comments about weight and diet culture. Sadly, she died just months after the episode’s broadcast. Despite this tragic end, she remains remembered fondly as one of the most significant guest stars in the Scooby-Doo series due to her portrayal of the cheerful and caring new proprietor of the Sugar Plum Candy Factory.
