First Look at Chopper From Netflix's One Piece Has Been Revealed

As a long-time fan of One Piece, I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming Season 2! The introduction of Chopper, one of my favorite characters from the anime, is just the tip of the iceberg. The fact that they are filming in Cape Town, South Africa, only adds to the anticipation.

Netflix’s “One Piece” Season 2 is being made in Cape Town, South Africa at present, but they’ve still managed to unveil a sneak peek of Chopper. This anime series chronicles the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his band of pirates, the Straw Hat Pirates, as they search for the fabled One Piece, the greatest pirate treasure. The upcoming season will take us to Drum Island, a place on the Grand Line where Chopper hails from, which is also home to our cherished character and ship’s doctor within the Straw Hat crew.

For those not acquainted, Chopper is a young reindeer who consumed a Zoan-type Devil Fruit, granting him human-like abilities. He was subsequently trained by Dr. Hiriluk and Dr. Kureha, portrayed by Mark Harelik and Katey Segal respectively. Later, he embarks on a maritime journey with the Straw Hat crew in search of the legendary One Piece. Chopper is a beloved character on the team, often seen as everyone’s little brother or referred to as an “emergency food” when Luffy is hungry (which is quite frequent). The introduction of this character is significant in One Piece‘s Season 2, with a likely focus on Drum Island, as suggested by the concept art from the recent set tour.

While the voice behind Chopper has not been revealed yet, other important additions will make their live-action debut in One Piece Season 2. The series just added Joe Manganiello as Mr. O aka Crocodile, widely regarded as one of the best villains of the franchise. Lera Abova (Anna) joins the Netflix show as Miss All Sunday aka Nico Robin, a member of the crime syndicate Baroque works. Along with Chopper, expect both characters to not only play major roles in the next two seasons, but also become a recurring part of the overall series (if renewed, of course).

The official cast includes Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Vincent Regan as Garp. Joining the second season are Callum Kerr as Smoker, Julia Rehwald as Tashigi, Rob Colletti as Wapol, Ty Keogh as Dalton, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Nefertari Cobra, the king of Alabasta. The Baroque Works crew also includes Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday, David Dastmalchian as Mr. 3, Camrus Johnson as Mr. 5, Daniel Lasker as Mr. 9, and Jazzard Jaslyn as Miss Valentine.

One Piece
Season 2 is expected to release on Netflix sometime next year.
