‘Orpheus Project’ Thriller in the Works at Amazon From ‘Fellow Travelers,’ ‘Nashville’ Alums (Exclusive)

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for gripping narratives, I can’t help but feel a surge of anticipation at the prospect of The Orpheus Project gracing our screens. With Dee Johnson and Paul Keables, the dynamic duo behind Nashville and other critically acclaimed series, at the helm, this thriller promises to be a rollercoaster ride that will keep us on the edge of our seats.

Prime Video will explore the realm of near-death experiences in its latest drama project.

A streaming service owned by Amazon is working on a suspenseful production called “The Orpheus Project“, which revolves around a team of young physicians performing risky tests on themselves, pushing the boundaries between existence and oblivion. This project, penned by writers Dee Johnson (“Fellow Travelers“) and Paul Keables (“Nashville“), is inspired by an Israeli series called “Metim Lerega“, which aired on their Hot platform.

Johnson and Keables will co-produce alongside Marc Resteghini from Jack Tar Pictures (upcoming series Young Sherlock on Prime Video) and Alon Aranya from Paper Plane Productions (series’ Your Honor, Tehran). The production is being handled by Amazon MGM Studios.

The Orpheus Project revolves around “a team of young physicians who spend their days saving lives and their nights conducting risky self-experiments.” According to the show’s synopsis, these experiments aid in resolving intricate medical mysteries but at a steep price. This cost involves them being ensnared in a sinister plot that delves into realms beyond death itself.

Previously, Johnson and Keables collaborated on the scripted series ‘Nashville’ for Nat Geo, ‘Mars’ at Starz, and ‘Boss’. Notably, Johnson served as an executive producer and writer for Showtime’s Emmy-nominated show ‘Fellow Travelers’. Upcoming, Johnson will be working on a Netflix project titled ‘His & Hers’, starring Tessa Thompson. In addition, their credits encompass ‘ER’ and ‘Southland’. They are represented by CAA, Anonymous Content, and Johnson Shapiro.

Keables got his first writing recognition on the show Boss; he has also written episodes for FX’s The Strain and Netflix’s Spinning Out. He is represented by the agencies CAA, Epicenter, and Jackoway Austen.

The Israeli television show was developed by Roni Yaddor, Ruth Weinberg, Gal Zaid, and Michal Aviram, and it was manufactured by Endemol Shine Israel.
