In the latest episode of Cyrus Says podcast, Pathaan’s scriptwriter, Abbas Tyrewala, shared significant information about the sequel. He mentioned that “Pathaan 2 has been scheduled, and I think the script for dialogue is almost complete. Fingers crossed, I hope it will be handed to me soon.
Back in February 2024, it was TopMob who first reported that Shah Rukh Khan and Aditya Chopra had planned for Pathaan to become a self-contained series within the YRF Spy Universe.
According to a source familiar with the situation, it’s clear that Shah Rukh Khan as Pathaan has struck a chord with viewers. There’s been consistent interest from fans to see more of SRK in his spy role. Following the film’s release in January 2023, Adi and SRK made plans to expand the Pathaan character into its own franchise within the Spy Universe. Almost immediately after, Adi began brainstorming ideas for a sequel to this box office hit.
The source noted that Pathaan 2 lays the groundwork for more significant clashes in the upcoming storyline of the universe.
In our previous chat, Abbas Tyrewala shared an exciting update: he’s completed a first draft for the dialogues in the upcoming movie titled King. This film is Shah Rukh Khan’s next project, making it his debut collaboration with his daughter Suhana Khan. The action-thriller is directed by Sujoy Ghosh and will be co-produced by Gauri Khan and Siddharth Anand.
According to recent announcements, King’s initial filming is set to commence in Mumbai as early as January 2025, with subsequent extensive shooting in Europe following. The producers aim to complete the filming by August or September of next year, and are currently aiming for a release on the festival of Eid in 2026.
