Rings Of Power’s Poppy Actress Told Me Why It Took So Long For The Stoors To Decide On Nobody’s Name

As a gamer who’s spent countless hours lost in the richly detailed worlds of Middle Earth, I must say that the intricate storytelling and character development in The Rings of Power continues to impress me. The unique backstory behind Merimac, or as he is known to his friends, Nobody, truly resonated with me on a personal level.

heads up! plot twists from season 2 of The Rings of Power, particularly focusing on Nori and Poppy’s tale, are coming up. if you haven’t watched it yet, you can catch up by streaming the prequel series to Lord of the Rings with an Amazon Prime membership. enjoy your viewing!

The initial encounter between Stoor Poppy and Nori occurs following their separation from The Stranger, who is actually known as Merimac. However, due to the lengthy deliberation of his parents in selecting a name, he was already widely recognized as Nobody by the time they decided. Given the unusual nickname and the intriguing story behind its adoption, I found myself curious about the reasoning behind the delay in naming him. When I interviewed Megan Richards, the actress portraying Poppy, she elucidated the philosophy that underpins this unique choice of name.

In Episode 6 of Season 2, Poppy queries the reason behind Everyone calling him Nobody, to which Gavi Singh Chera’s character replies with his explanation.

My folks aren’t the most decisive. Took them a long time to settle on a name.

When Poppy inquired about what constituted “a long time,” he replied, “It could be one or two years.” Later, upon being told that wasn’t too long, he added clarification that the decision was made “one or two years back” and by then, “Nobody had stayed put.

Initially, you may have heard his name as Nobody, but that’s not his real name; it’s Merimac. However, the Stoors rarely use that name for him because his parents took a while to decide on it. During my subsequent interview for the Rings of Power, I was curious about this naming process and why it took so long. Megan Richards, who portrays his friend and love interest, shared with me:

As a fan, I often find myself pondering this idea: when immersed in a group of folks, it’s not unusual to feel slightly adrift at times. This sensation seems to be universal, transcending the size or scope of friendships. In the vastness of life, one can sometimes experience a sense of being lost. I believe that for many, the voyage towards self-discovery or stepping into fresh experiences is a journey with varying paces for each individual.

Gavi Singh Chera became part of the “Rings of Power” cast for Season 2, taking on the role of the Stoor. His portrayal beautifully captures Richard’s concept, as while he appears kind and endearing, there is a sense of him being somewhat misplaced within this vast society. However, when Merimac encounters Poppy, they instantaneously establish a bond that suggests to me he felt genuinely understood by her, which was heartwarming.

Richard’s argument was connected to the broader theme of The Rings of Power, which revolves around personal growth and our individual journeys through life. This theme is particularly significant for Nori, Poppy, and The Stranger as they are all grappling with self-discovery and understanding their motivations this season. For instance, in the same episode, The Stranger faces a crucial choice between his friends and his destiny during his quest to uncover his identity and purpose within the world.

It appears that Merimac is embarking on a journey reminiscent of growth and exploration, and the heartwarming instance when he disclosed to Poppy the reason behind his long-standing moniker ‘Nobody’ was particularly endearing.

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating the unfolding tale between Stoor and Harfoot as we approach the last couple of episodes in Season 2 of Rings of Power. I can hardly wait to unravel the mystery of The Stranger’s identity, watch their bond develop, and hopefully witness the long-awaited reunion of Nori, Poppy, and the enigmatic wizard. Catch each new episode every Thursday on the 2024 TV schedule. Let’s see how this epic saga unfolds!
