Jawan actor Viraj Ghelani issues clarification after his ‘worst experience ever’ comment for Shah Rukh Khan's film; ‘Baat ka batangad ban gaya’

As a seasoned film enthusiast who has followed the journey of numerous artists, I must say that Viraj Ghelani’s recent experience working with Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee Kumar on Jawan seems to be a mixed bag. On one hand, he had the opportunity to work alongside some of the biggest names in the industry, but on the other, it appears his role was significantly reduced in the final cut, leaving him feeling somewhat disappointed.

In a movie like Jawan, where Shah Rukh Khan starred, several talented artists contributed to its success. One of them was content creator Viraj Ghelani, who took on a smaller role in the film directed by Atlee Kumar. However, after stating in an interview that his experience was “the worst ever,” Ghelani found himself in a difficult situation. After his comments sparked controversy, the actor from the movie Govinda Naam Mera clarified that his words were misunderstood and exaggerated.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Viraj Ghelani explained the context behind his remarks about Jawan on The Having Said That Show podcast. He stated that his comment arose due to insufficient material available. Discussing his part in Atlee Kumar’s actioner, he mentioned that a significant portion of what he had filmed for approximately 13-14 days ended up being omitted from the movie. Additionally, he revealed that only the scenes from day one were included in the final edit among all the days he shot for his character.

In that instance, he felt a tinge of disenchantment upon watching the movie with his fiancé, realizing that most of the scenes he filmed had been cut. He explained to the press, “I was somewhat disappointed in that specific moment. It wasn’t my worst experience filming or working on that project.” Furthermore, he asserted that his comments were exaggerated and the statement about being treated disrespectfully on set was also misunderstood. Shedding light on it, he said that every set has several people present, it’s not just the directors and actors. Some random people were talking rudely to him but the director was “actually the sweetest”. In fact, he also called him for a role in Baby John, but due to prior commitments, he had to give it a pass. Moreover, he didn’t even shoot with Shah Rukh Khan. “Our sequences were on different days. Baat ka batangad bangaya befaaltu mai. Pata nahi kahaan se kahan baat pahuch gayi,” Ghelani quipped in Hindi.

Viraj recently discussed his time working with SRK (Shah Rukh Khan) and Atlee on the movie Jawan during a podcast. He described it as the most difficult experience he’s ever had, citing an unpleasant work environment. He implied that creators are hired based solely on their fame, and made accusations about the situation. The film also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, and several others.
