Telemundo Taps Joaquin Duro to Lead Sports Division

Telemundo is shaking up the leadership at its sports division, Telemundo Deportes.

NBCUniversal’s Spanish-speaking media organization announced that Joaquin Duro has been appointed as the Executive Vice President of their division. He will report directly to Luis Fernandez, who serves as Chairman of Telemundo Enterprises.

Duro succeeds Eli Velazquez, who will depart the company at the end of the month.

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that in my new position, I will be responsible for managing all programming at Telemundo Deportes, encompassing acquisitions and live event production. The sports rights we hold are nothing short of spectacular – from the FIFA World Cup, the Olympics, the NFL, to global soccer events. It’s a dream come true to be part of this incredible lineup!

As a gamer, I’m thrilled to step into the role of leading our sports division. Recently, Duro held the position of Senior Vice President for Ad-Supported Video on Demand (AVOD) Streaming and Digital within Telemundo Enterprises. Prior to this role, he was employed at Univision.

For years, they’ve been providing top-notch sports content to Latinos, and he’s eager to collaborate with the team to further enhance this impressive legacy.
