As a gamer with a keen eye for fashion and a deep appreciation for the power of women, I was absolutely captivated by Dior’s Spring-Summer 2025 collection during Paris Fashion Week. The fusion of sportswear, artistry, and high fashion in this show was nothing short of breathtaking.

It seems like the Olympic spirit is still lingering in Paris, as Dior recently showcased its Spring-Summer 2025 collection during Paris Fashion Week in an extraordinary fashion. They did this by having the talented archer and artist, Sofia Ginevra Gianní, also known as SAGG Napoli, fire arrows into a target at the end of the runway to conclude the show.

I was thrilled to witness an extraordinary gathering at the show, where stars like Natalie Portman, Jennifer Garner, Anya Taylor-Joy, Elizabeth Debicki, Rosamund Pike, Ashley Park, Rosalía, and South Korean singer Jisoo graced the front row. Notably, France’s First Lady Brigitte Macron found herself seated next to the proprietors of LVMH, making for an unforgettable event.

As people gathered in a room bathed in light blue, they couldn’t help but be intrigued by the distinctive archway made of plexiglass standing at its center. “What on earth is that?” seemed to be the unspoken question among the audience. Some even murmured, “Why would models parade through a transparent, enclosed passageway?” However, when SAGG Napoli graced the tunnel during the opening of the show, bow in one hand and a quiver full of arrows in the other, the mystery was resolved. The show then began with her releasing the arrows, marking the start of an exciting spectacle.

Essentially, this assortment focuses on the power of women and challenging fashion norms, blurring lines between the wearer’s body and their attire, as well as between purpose and design. To achieve this, Maria Grazia Chiuri drew inspiration from Mr. Christian Dior and his Fall-Winter 1951-52 collection, particularly the Amazon dress.

The designs in this collection draw heavily from the Amazonian dress and the powerful female form, evoking the spirit of shows like “Xena: Warrior Princess” or “Wonder Woman”. These characters are renowned for their strength, self-assurance, independence, and femininity. For SAGG Napoli, fashion serves not just as a style statement but also as a means to emphasize her athletic figure. Collaborating with Chiuri was thus an obvious choice.

Chiuri collaborated closely with Peter Philips, Dior Makeup’s creative and image director, who aimed for models to appear as if they had recently completed a workout or emerged from a battlefield. He preferred a makeup formula that wasn’t overly complex, so it didn’t seem exclusive to professionals, as he shared with a gathering of journalists prior to the fashion show’s commencement.

This year, these terms – body, fashion, and sport – have taken on new significance, particularly due to the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024. They now symbolize gender equality, inclusivity, respect, and acceptance of personal boundaries. According to the house’s collection notes, this is a key point they wish to emphasize. Additionally, Miuccia Chiuri underscores the importance of diversity in sports and acknowledges the immense strength that women bring to this field.

Primarily featuring a monochrome palette, leotard tops in black and crystal-embellished versions harmoniously pair with black skirts. Off-the-shoulder dresses introduce an element of asymmetry, while sporty biker bomber jacket combinations provide an innovative twist. The red detailing on the bomber jackets adds a contrasting touch, as described by the brand as “a counterpoint” within the collection. For evening wear, lightweight dresses made from jersey fabric are prominent, a trend also spotted during Milan Fashion Week.

After the previous models had departed the runway, SAGG Napoli stepped out from the clear tunnel. The audience burst into applause, admiring her impressive archery demonstration during the show, which left spectators feeling inspired by the achievements women have made and will continue to make, whether it’s in fashion, sports, or any field.
