In the original movie, Rebecca De Mornay played Mrs. Mott, a widow who plotted revenge on Claire Bartel (Annabella Sciorra) by assuming the role of a nanny to infiltrate her life and family before ultimately killing her. Monroe will portray the vengeful nanny, who is both the antagonist and a central character in the film. It remains unclear if the mother’s role has been cast or if the remake will significantly alter the source material.
