Harry Styles and Disney are offering a charming sneak peek at their upcoming collaboration based on Fantasia, which is set to premiere this weekend.

Starting September 28, both the fashion line of a famous celebrity and a well-known animated film will unveil a collection of 31 items, ranging from $25 to $289, which include nail polish sets, skincare products, clothing, accessories, and stationery. This collaboration will be available at selected Disney Store locations, pop-up shops, and online on October 4 at 8 a.m. PT on disneystore.com and pleasing.com, and 9 a.m. BST at disneyStore.co.uk. In anticipation of the launch, a 3D animation video set to the music of Paul Dukas’ “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” will debut. This video can be viewed first on The Hollywood Reporter, and it will also be shown at Disney’s physical stores. You can watch the animation here before anyone else.

Harry Lambert, our creative director, shares with The Hollywood Reporter that working with Disney allowed us to visit Anaheim and explore their extensive archives. With a wide-open approach, we were excited about the potential of our collaboration with Disney since the possibilities seemed endless. However, even as we considered various ideas, ‘Fantasia’ remained at the forefront of our thoughts due to its enchanting colors, whimsical characters, and overall magical feel. It seemed like an ideal fit for Pleasing.

Highlights from the enchanting Fantasia collection by Pleasing x feature four-color nail polish sets, a Hand + Nail Balm, along with a fresh buttercream scent for the Big Lip HA Moisture Balm, all adorned with unique Disney sketches. The clothing line includes hoodies, crewnecks, button-down shirts, t-shirts, and sweatpants featuring Mickey Mouse as the Apprentice and other beloved characters from segments accompanied by Philadelphia Orchestra’s performances, conducted by Leopold Stokowski. These segments include “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” “Pastoral Symphony,” and Amilcare Ponchielli’s “The Dance of the Hours.” (You can stream this timeless movie on Disney+.)

Tasia Filippatos, Disney Consumer Products’ president, remarks, “Even if you’re not particularly familiar with Fantasia, just hearing that iconic music evokes a sense of nostalgia and happiness. We aim to immerse our audience in various ways, so creating this unique hero animation alongside partners is a fun method to incorporate our products into the world of Fantasia. Additionally, music will play a significant role in our thrilling pop-ups in Houston and Orlando.

These temporary shops will operate from September 28th until October 27th. You can find them in two locations: Orlando, Florida, at Disney Springs (1486 E Buena Vista Dr., operating hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day), and in Texas, specifically at the Houston Galleria (5115 Westheimer Rd., Suite C2555). The store hours in Houston are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays. Disney has mentioned that there might be a virtual queue system for the Orlando shop.

Starting September 28, a handpicked assortment from collab will be accessible at the Disney Store on Broadway (1540 Broadway), New York City, and as of September 29, it will also be available at our London location (350-352 Oxford St.).

In 1940, the groundbreaking film Fantasia was first released, featuring eight segments that were meticulously crafted by Walt Disney Studios and synchronized with classical tunes, such as “Rite of Spring,” a portrayal of the dinosaurs’ extinction, along with “Night on Bald Mountain/Ave Maria,” “Pomp and Circumstance,” and others. These animated segments were preceded by commentary from music critic and composer Deems Taylor.

2020 saw Disney include a warning on select films such as “Fantasia,” acknowledging that they contain negative portrayals or mistreatment of certain peoples or cultures. These stereotypes were problematic in the past, and remain so today. Instead of deleting these scenes, Disney wants to draw attention to their harmful effects, learn from them, and stimulate conversations aimed at fostering a more inclusive society for all of us.

Stay tuned for more on the Disney Fantasia x Pleasing collection’s online launch on Oct. 4.
