As a seasoned traveler with a penchant for unique and vibrant hotel experiences, I’m absolutely thrilled about the upcoming opening of The Standard, Singapore! Having had the privilege to traverse the globe and indulge in the offerings of various luxury properties, I can confidently say that this new addition to the city-state is one I eagerly anticipate.
In Q4 of 2024, The Standard Hotel’s branch located in Singapore will officially launch.
Nestled in the heart of Singapore, on the illustrious Orange Grove Road, I’m just a stone’s throw away from the UNESCO Botanic Gardens and the iconic Orchard Road shopping district. As an eight-story property, I boast 143 rooms, each with expansive floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking views. That’s me, The Standard, Singapore!
The hotel, created jointly by The Standard’s internal design team along with Ministry of Design, will include two distinct venues: Kaya, a Japanese izakaya-style bar and eatery, and on ground level, Café Standard bistro. These establishments will be accessible to the general public.
In 1999, Andre Balazs, supported by renowned investors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Cameron Diaz, and Benicio del Toro, launched the first Standard Hotel on Hollywood’s Sunset Strip. Then, in 2002, The Standard Downtown LA was unveiled within the historic Superior Oil Company Building. Since then, it has attracted A-list celebrities and frequently appeared in popular movies and TV shows such as “Get Him to the Greek” and “Entourage”.
Two initial properties based in Los Angeles have since shut down, however, the brand has expanded by establishing locations in New York, Miami, London, The Maldives, Hua Hin (Thailand), Ibiza, and Bangkok. Furthermore, more hotels are being developed in Melbourne, Lisbon, Brussels, Vienna, Dublin, Dubai, Mexico City, and Austin.
In August, Hyatt Hotels revealed their intention to take over Standard International, along with the brands under its umbrella. These include The Standard, The StandardX, The Peri, Bunkhouse Hotels, and The Manner.
