When Anushka Sharma was ‘flattered’ to know Karan Johar had crush on her while shooting for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil: ‘If I can do that...’

As an ardent fan of Bollywood gossip, I find myself utterly captivated by the intriguing tales that unfold behind the scenes. The recent revelation about Karan Johar’s secret crush on Anushka Sharma during the filming of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is one such tantalizing tidbit that has sent waves of excitement through the Bollywood community.

Among the highly demanded actresses, Anushka Sharma has collaborated with numerous Bollywood directors, including Karan Johar. Together, they brought life to the movie “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil,” released in 2016. In this production, Karan not only directed but also produced the film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan alongside Anushka. Although their professional relationship is well-known, it’s an interesting tidbit that Karan Johar harbored a secret crush on Anushka during the making of the romantic drama.

We stumbled upon an old video of Karan Johar’s popular chat show, Koffee With Karan. In Season 8, Episode 5 of KWK, Anushka Sharma shared the coffee with Katrina Kaif. While the trio had a candid conversation with each other, the Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani director admitted crushing on her while filming Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. He spilled in the show, “You could have a crush like I had a crush on you. It’s been so long.”

Upon learning this fresh detail, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi seemed speechless, while Katrina Kaif showed surprise, claiming she wasn’t aware of it. Anushka then inquired, “Did you truly have a crush on me?” To which Johar replied, “Indeed, during the entire film production.” This left everyone amazed. However, Sharma felt touched by it. She continued, “I am genuinely flattered, I must admit because if I could do THAT…

Currently, Anushka Sharma has an upcoming film called Chakda ‘Xpress waiting to be released. Meanwhile, director-producer Karan Johar is working on a co-production titled Jigra with Alia Bhatt, and he’s also planning a big-budget web series for Netflix. A source close to the project revealed to TopMob that after collaborating with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Heeramandi, this will be Karan Johar’s next significant project for Netflix. He is set to serve as the showrunner for this currently unnamed web series, and the script has already been finalized. The plan is to start filming in the first quarter of 2025.

It’s been shared with us that the audition process for the high-spirited web series has already started. Given that filming is set to take place across all of 2025, we can expect to see it air on streaming platforms in 2026.
