‘Reacher’ Spinoff Starring Maria Sten Gets Amazon Green Light

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent navigating the vast world of Jack Reacher, this news about the upcoming spinoff focusing on Frances Neagley has me positively buzzing! I’ve been a fan of Maria Sten since her days on Swamp Thing and Channel Zero, so seeing her take on the role of Neagley is nothing short of exhilarating.

The Reacher-verse is expanding.

Excitedly, I can’t help but share that my favorite streaming service, Prime Video, has greenlit a spin-off of the gripping action drama “Reacher,” focusing on Jack Reacher’s old military buddy and occasional partner, Frances Neagley, portrayed by Alan Ritchson. The talented Maria Sten, who’s been an integral part of “Reacher” in both seasons (and will continue her role in season three), will reprise her role in the yet-to-be-titled spinoff. I can hardly wait to see more!

Amazon Studios, in collaboration with MGM Studios and Skydance Television, as well as CBS Studios (replacing Paramount Television Studios), are producing the Neagley series, similar to their work on Reacher. The creators of the original show, Nick Santora, and Nicholas Wootton (known for shows like Prison Break and NYPD Blue) are jointly creating this spinoff.

Since Reacher has deeply connected with our international audience, it was a logical move to develop more stories and characters related to it. As expressed by Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios, this spinoff decision was straightforward. With Nick Santora and Nicholas Webb, along with our collaborators Skydance and CBS Studios, we are optimistic that this new installment, featuring the talented Maria Sten, will not only uphold the legacy of Reacher, but also inject fresh vitality and thrill for both new and long-time fans.

As a passionate admirer, I’d like to express that Lee Child has crafted an exceptionally deep character in Neagley. Maria Sten breathes life into her, making her feel real and captivating in the series Reacher. Amazon, Skydance Television, and CBS Studios have been fantastic collaborators from day one, and we can’t wait to delve deeper into Neagley’s tale, uncovering what truly sets her apart.

The new series will focus on Neagley, a private detective residing in Chicago. When she discovers that a cherished friend from her past has met an untimely and suspicious end, she becomes determined to pursue justice. As the show’s synopsis suggests, Neagley draws upon her experiences with Jack Reacher and her tenure as part of the 110 Special Investigators to embark on a perilous journey, seeking to expose a sinister force lurking in the shadows.

Dana Goldberg, Skydance’s chief creative officer, expressed excitement about expanding the Reacher universe in collaboration with Amazon and CBS Studios. This expansion will delve into the beloved character of Neagley, played by Maria Sten. Nick Santora did a fantastic job adapting Lee Child’s Reacher novels for television. Under the leadership of Nick Santora and Nicholas Wootton, viewers can anticipate another enthralling journey within the Reacher world.

Sten expressed his great enthusiasm about delving deeper into the enigmatic past of Neagley, a character he finds delightful to portray. He’s eager for everyone to become more acquainted with her.

Santora and Wootton are set to executive produce the Neagley series in collaboration with Lee Child, renowned author of the Jack Reacher books, Don Granger, Lisa Kussner, as well as David Ellison from Skydance TV, alongside Goldberg and Matt Thunell. Meanwhile, Carolyn Harris, Kenny Madrid, and Niko Fernandez will supervise this project for Skydance.

The Reacher spinoff continues the fruitful relationship between Prime Video and Skydance. The two companies have also collaborated on Jack Ryan; the upcoming Cross and The Runarounds; an action-adventure series starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham; and a documentary series about the 2022 University of Idaho murders.

Besides the 2019 “Swamp Thing” series and Syfy’s “Channel Zero,” Sten’s accomplishments also feature in. She is represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), Brillstein Entertainment Partners, The Initiative Group, and Granderson Des Rochers.
