As a fervent admirer of Bollywood, I have had the privilege to witness the illustrious journey of numerous superstars gracing the silver screen. Among them, Govinda stands out as an exceptional example of an artist who continues to hold a special place in the hearts of his fans even amidst a hiatus from active filmmaking.

Many outstanding performers have graced the Hindi film scene for numerous decades, captivating audiences all along. The pioneering actor Rajesh Khanna is famously known as the first superstar in Indian cinema. To this day, Shah Rukh Khan stands tall among them, maintaining his dominance in Bollywood and the Hindi movie industry at large.

Stardom may come and go but how an actor is celebrated after his success matters the most. And Govinda is a true example of how has remained No.1 among his fans despite not actively working in Bollywood.

In the 1980s, Govinda kicked off his acting journey, debuting in the film Love 86 and Ilzaam, which both premiered in February 1986. During his budding career in Bollywood, Govinda signed a total of 75 films when he was just 21 years old. However, after receiving counsel from the late acting legend Dilip Kumar, often referred to as ‘Tragedy King’, he chose to abandon 25 projects.

Initially, the Hero No. 1 actor hesitated due to concerns about canceling upcoming films since he had already received payment for them. However, Kumar managed to reassure him, and in the end, the Love 86 actor accepted his counsel. In a previous discussion with Maniesh Paul, Govinda revealed this story. Interestingly, Govinda once worked tirelessly for 14 days straight without sleeping, as he was engrossed in filming for over two weeks on set.

In 2014, Govinda and his brother Kirti Kumar appeared on Vinay Pathak’s talk show Har Ghar Kucch Kehta Hai. During the show, it came to light that Govinda made such a substantial amount of money in the early stages of his career that he was unsure about how to manage it.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d like to share an interesting tidbit I picked up about Govinda, the Coolie No. 1 star. His brother, Kirti, revealed that in the past, Govinda had suggested investing in 100 auto rickshaws, which shows his forward-thinking business acumen even before he achieved stardom. After becoming a successful actor, it’s intriguing to note that he also expressed an interest in acquiring around 100 trucks, demonstrating his ambition and growth mindset.

Govinda recently suffered a leg injury after his revolver accidentally misfired a gunshot at his foot. He is stable and receiving treatment at a Mumbai hospital.

In the 90s, Govinda transitioned from action roles to becoming a popular comedic character in films. He is famously recognized for movies such as Aankhen, Raja Babu, Coolie No. 1, Hero No. 1, Dulhe Raja, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and many more. His filmography also includes Partner, Bhagam Bhag, Happy Ending, among others.
