Terrifier 3 Director Says 'Be Prepared' for the Most Gruesome Kill Yet

As a die-hard fan of the Terrifier franchise, I can’t help but feel both excited and apprehensive about Damien Leone’s upcoming masterpiece, Terrifier 3. Having witnessed Art the Clown’s gruesome kills in the past, I thought I’d seen it all – boy, was I wrong! The director himself has warned us to “be prepared” for a shower scene that promises to be Art’s most gory kill yet, inspired by none other than Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho.

Fans who believed they had witnessed the peak of horror in “Terrifier 2” with its infamous bedroom kill are in for a shock, as director Damien Leone is urging us all to brace ourselves for an even more gruesome segment in “Terrifier 3”. This upcoming film, set to hit theaters on October 11, is the third installment of Leone’s acclaimed horror franchise. Instead of being a Halloween-themed story, it promises a Christmas massacre, with the enigmatic Art the Clown once again wreaking havoc in Miles County. His target this time around is Sienna Shaw (played by Lauren LaVera), the survivor from the previous movie.

Discussing everything related to the movie “Terrifier” with Screen Rant, director Damien Leone spoke about the scene inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s classic 1960 horror film “Psycho”. This film is a regular watch for him every two years, and if given an opportunity, he would love to remake it. Since that seems unlikely, he chose to reimagine the famous shower scene, swapping Norman Bates with Art the Clown and using a chainsaw instead of a knife. He cautions viewers to prepare themselves for what’s coming.

As I can’t redo Psycho’s iconic shower scene, I’ll innovate by creating an even more outrageous version. Instead of a knife, I’ll replace it with a chainsaw for my character. Instead of a single person in the shower, I’ll double the thrill by having two individuals there. This is how unique ideas like these come to life in one’s mind.

“That’s where it all starts, and then it turns into a question of ideas: ‘What funny moments can we add here? How many body parts can we depict him cutting off with that chainsaw? What creative things can he do with the chainsaw?’ That’s how such a scene is developed. So when you watch Terrifier 3, and you reach the shower scene, be warned.

Reflecting on the gruesome encounter between Art the Clown and Allie (Casey Hartnett) in the film “Terrifier 2”, Leone’s ominous statement leaves us all questioning how he consistently raises the bar for brutality in his killings. Many viewers assumed nothing could surpass the hacksaw scene from the initial movie, but were delighted when Leone’s second installment exceeded expectations with its even more gruesome content. As he continues to push boundaries, he admits that it becomes a struggle not only against himself, but also against every horror movie that has come before. Given that there are “only so many things to do to the human body,” he is in constant competition not only with himself, but with the entire genre of horror films.

It’s never easy as the burden keeps growing and the bar is continually raised. The demands become more demanding as we progress… Therefore, I always strive to give my best and pray for inspiration when crafting these intense scenes. You just never know where it will originate from. We’re not merely competing against ourselves in these films; we’re battling against every other Saw movie, every other film that features brutal kill scenes. The possibilities seem limited as there are only so many things one can do to the human body.

In the latest kill by Art the Clown, known as Leone’s most daring yet, it leaves us wondering how he’ll surpass this in “Terrifier 4”. However, from what we’ve seen with this franchise, a relentless clown like Art is never truly defeated. Somehow, Leone and the team will devise new ways to test the limits of decency, ensuring that fans are treated to even more gruesome scenes, bloodshed, and undoubtedly some of the most ingenious kill methods in cinematic history.

You can now stream the horror film Terrifier on Peacock, while Terrifier 2 is available on Prime Video. Keep an eye out for the release of Terrifier 3 nationwide on October 11 by Ciniverse. Check out the explicit red band trailer below.
