Lil Wayne Earns Second Diamond Certification With 2013 Drake and Future Collab "Love Me"

As a fan with a deep appreciation for hip-hop history and its titans, I can’t help but marvel at Lil Wayne’s latest achievement. Receiving his second Diamond certification for “Love Me” is yet another testament to his timeless impact on the genre. Despite the Super Bowl snub, it’s clear that Wayne’s influence on modern hip-hop is as indelible as ever.

11-year-old track by Lil Wayne titled “Love Me,” featuring Drake and Future, is earning its second RIAA Diamond Certification. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) grants this prestigious award to songs and albums that exceed 10 million sales units. Notably, Lil Wayne previously received a Diamond plaque for his 2008 hit “Lollipop” in 2022.

A New Orleans-born rapper has shared his dismay at not being selected for the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show, which will be held in his hometown. Expressing his feelings in an emotional Instagram post, Wayne stated, “It left me shattered.” The artist received an outpouring of sympathy and encouragement from fans, fellow musicians, and his team, reminding him of his significant contributions to the development of contemporary hip-hop.

As a die-hard fan, I’ve got to say, it’s clear as day that Lil Wayne remains an unquestionable hip-hop titan, even after being overlooked for the Super Bowl lineup. Way back when, he burst onto the scene with The Hot Boys, a Louisiana rap group, and then soared to new heights with his solo work, dropping albums like “Tha Carter” and “Tha Carter II” in the early 2000s. Fast forward a bit, and he’s built his own music empire, Young Money Entertainment, which has launched the careers of heavyweights like Nicki Minaj and Drake. The man’s legacy? Unshakable.

At New Orleans’ Smoothie King Center on November 2nd, the Hot Boys are planning to perform together as a group for the 2024 Lil Weezyana Fest.
