Drawing inspiration from renowned Vans designs, the MTE Crosspath model showcases iconic details such as the Sidestripe and the distinctive red Off the Wall heel tag, all while introducing innovative enhancements to its construction for improved functionality.
The MTE Crosspath and its mid-cut version, the MTE Crosspath Mid, stand out in the all-terrain shoe market due to their exceptional performance features. To make them even more eco-friendly, Vans constructed the uppers using 100% recycled PET, reinforced by seamless RAPIDWELD™ technology and a non-PFC DWR coating that repels water without harmful chemicals. The shoe’s midsole is made from 50% bio-based EVA foam sourced from plants, while 31% of the outsole’s rubber comes from regeneratively-grown sources, promoting more sustainable farming methods.
The spacious toe area and shaped insoles enable the wearer to move effortlessly from day into night in Crosspaths shoes. Although the interior focuses on providing ultimate comfort, the exterior is designed to handle rugged terrain and tough situations, featuring a novel traction design for optimal contact with various surfaces.
The MTE Crosspath and Crosspath Mid shoes will be introduced together with the second chapter of the Crosspath story, which features Vans Snowboarding team members Ryo Aizawa, Jake Kuyzk, Jill Perkins, and Ivika Jürgenson. They will be testing the shoe’s durability as they traverse St. Johns, Newfoundland.

TopMob: What makes this all-terrain offering different from other durable models Vans has released?
Matt Nosbusch: The latest Crosspath design provides a 4-season approach that’s lighter yet delivers maximum cushioning, grip, day-long adaptability, and wearability in any weather. The updated outsole includes sturdier toe-gripping lugs and brake lugs, along with a circular edge of radius lugs around the entire border to improve traction on all types of terrain.
What is the best approach to achieving a harmonious blend of aesthetics and practicality when it comes to the MTE Crosspath design?
Our aim is to achieve a harmonious balance in every aspect of our functionality. We’ve ensured this at all operational levels, and we’ve never lost sight of maintaining a visually appealing, sleek design that echoes our skateboarding heritage.
